Recently changed name to Parador de Nicaragua. Wish we had read reviews. Ice rooms but they turned all the air conditioners in the rooms off at midnight. Plus no water or low pressure the next morning. Loved the room and building but don’t see staying there in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms were nice. I would ask if the air-condition was going to be on all night as Granada is not...

long review but please read until the end. My wife and I stayed here with our two children 4 and 7 years old. We moved here from a great hostel which was in the center of town to avoid the weekend party noise. My wife saw the hotel advertising cheap rooms whilst out on a walk. We moved in and booked a room which was spacious and fairly nice. It has a swimming pool which was also a plus. On checking in we were asked if we wanted a breakfast the following morning. We thought we would try it so said yes. We were asked to pay for room and breakfast up front which we did. Thought it was slightly strange but went with it anyway. They did not have change and advised they would pay us when they did. No blinds in room but we are up early so not too bad. TV was missing but they did eventually put one in. Next morning we went for breakfast. It was very underwhelming. We did not know what it came with but had to ask for butter for our toast, sauce, fruit a few things we thought would just come with it. Food was also very bland. Not a major issue we just did not order it again. We stayed for a few days. Things were ok. The Dutch owner was a bit strange but we could deal with that. Not just his personality but also the fact he would come to the pool remove his trousers and shirt and swim in his underpants two or three times a day. At least he could have had a shower first or put shorts on. Him doing laps whilst children were trying to play/swim was slightly difficult but not the end of the world I guess. On the second day my wife asked if she could order a margarita. The owner advised they did not have the ingredients which was no problem. They asked us if we wanted breakfast we said we were keen to explore and eat out. They seemed put out. Following day they advised they had the drinks to make a margarita. We said thanks but did not want one that day. Next day asked if we wanted breakfast said no thank you we were heading out to a waffle place. They seemed put out and told us they could make good pancakes. Started feeling awkward for us each day as they kept asking us. Ultimately we could get a breakfast at an amazing place down the road called the Garden Cafe for same money. It was like chalk and cheese in comparison. My wife decided she would like to order a margarita and asked the Dutch owner if she could have one. He said to speak to his wife who we had been avoiding as she seemed very moody and not very approachable. Apparently she got very frustrated and began speaking to my wife quickly and aggressively in Spanish. My wife has made a lot of effort to learn and speak Spanish but could not keep up. Ultimately it turned out they did not have the right mixers. My wife said it was not a problem but she did not have to be so rude. My wife returned to myself and my children by the pool and was quite shaken advising the lady had been rude, aggressive and quite threatening. The Dutch owner then came over I thought to apologise and clear up the situation. Instead he accused my wife of cursing at his wife - quite remarkable. There were other guests around the pool not to mention our children and now he too was swearing and being aggressive. His wife then joined him telling my wife she should make love to her mother (not quite in those polite words) and offering her to go outside for a fight. She was shouting loudly - it was very embarrassing, and scary for the children. Was most surreal but frightening as she is quite a large lady. We tried to explain the situation but they were not in a rational talking mood. They requested we leave which we gladly accepted. They had one of their staff outside who kept asking when we were ready. It took a while to pack as it always does what with a families clothes, toys etc. On the way out they were both waiting at the exit staring and being as intimidating as possible. Could not wait to get out of there. We unfortunately did not ready the trip advisors reviews prior. Our mistake. Booking.com did not have any reviews showing as there were less than five. Needless to say we will always do much more checking before as we normally do. Once we read some of the other reviews we felt compelled to add our experience. We have been travelling for five months across Central America and have not had a similar experience. We go out of our way to be good guests and our hosts have been great bar here. I also plan to report to Granada tourism board as it was totally unacceptable. The owner and his wife are totally unsuited to hospitality and should think about a different line of work.

Nice and clean hotel very close to the central square. Spacious bathrooms and (cold) showers. A pool with chill water for all hotel guests. Breakfast not included, we didn’t try it there. A little shop with local handicrafts in the entrance hall.
We‘ve booked a double room with AC for two nights. When we checked in, the Dutch owner told us that they kept the prices low and they can give us a room with AC for an extra 8$ per night .. we agreed, even though it was not what we booked! The hotel itself is a nice place, the owner however is a bit odd - which hotelier swims in his own pool while guests are there as well?

This was perfect for us. Brilliant central location for easy access to all the attractions in town. The room was spot on for the price, representing excellent value. The pool was big enough to have a proper dip with easy access to the bar!
The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Perfect place for a few nights. Enjoyed ourselves enormously.

Granada Boutique sits in a perfectly central location so wonder around the beautiful city of Granada. No need for a taxi unless you are going further a field. The hotel itself is gorgeous, open plan, beautiful plants, an ample bar and a welcoming pool to escape the heat of Granada anytime of day. The hotel offers massage also. The view from my room was just beautiful out over the cathedral. The owner, Rob was exceptionally hospitable and also has a good story to share with guests.

I would fully recommend this hotel to friends and will be staying there on my next visit to Nicaragua.

Thank you.
