I was very sorry to leave this hotel as I had a wonderful 4 night stay here. My double room wasn’t very big, but it was a perfectly adequate size and certainly more than enough for one person, but it had a large balcony, which was my favourite thing about the room. My balcony overlooked the front of the hotel, out over the olive trees. The hotel is in a very peaceful area. I slept very well. The bed was comfortable, although the cover was a bit thin. A nice thick duvet would have been nice. The walls are a little thin and I could hear the people in the room next to me clearly, but luckily they went to sleep at a reasonable time so my sleep wasn’t disturbed. The en suite bathroom included everything you needed apart from a facecloth, so make sure you bring your own. There are plenty of sockets in the room, including ones by the bed, which makes it easier to charge your phone overnight and not have to get out of bed to turn off your alarm if using the alarm on your phone. The room includes a flat screen tv, just change the audio settings to hear programmes in their original language instead of Italian. The hotel has free wifi, which worked well on the whole, but could be a bit dodgy out on the balcony. There is a nice area to sit outside if your room doesn’t have a balcony, and a pool too. The hotel has a bar with a good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. The usual continental options were available for breakfast. The bread rolls were a bit hard, but I have found that this is typical for Puglia. I enjoyed the food we had in the evening, and we were always offered second helpings. Evening meals usually consisted of a pasta dish and a meat dish. The way the drinks at the restaurant worked was very good - you bought bottles of wine and/or water and a label with your room number was placed on them so that you could pick them up the following night. I highly recommend the Primitivo. I would definitely stay at this hotel again - the views are stunning - and would certainly recommend to others.
We often recommend ( and stay here if we need to) when we are overbooked at
A seventies time warp but convenient local place and very good value .
The manager Gianni looks like an Italian superman ( nice looking ) and is utterly charming .
It has a pool, reasonable breakfasts and an average restaurant/ pizzeria which is frequented by locals and the caribinieri ( take away ) trade .
We stayed there for 3 nights during our tour of Italy. We were promised a big room, but instead got a very small room ( we had to put our suitcases on top of each other). the bigger rooms were, according to the reception for people who stayed for a week. But everything was clean and we had a nice view, but no terrace. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was very nice, The second morning the staff already knew what we wanted for drinks. Dinner was also good, but sometimes we had to wait a long time. It is difficult to find the hotel using a gps because it is on the top of a mountain and the gps kept sending us to an other place. The swimming pool was very nice.
My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights on the Leger Holidays tour "The Delights of Puglia, Italy's Best-Kept Secret" the first of 2 main stay Hotels. Unbeknown to ourselves the period we stayed 27th April 2016 - 1st May 2016 is the Italian's Winter and services are reduced in the Hotel's and the shops close at 1 pm opening up again around 5 pm. The town of Cisternino though it showed was 3 km's away from the Hotel our drivers felt it was more like 6 km ?? There is a shuttle mini bus from the Hotel to the town and though we saw it at the back of the Hotel it was never offered up to us but maybe as we found at our next Hotel all we needed to do was ask. There was a pool at the rear of the Hotel and though initially locked up it appeared to be open towards the end of our stay. Our accomodation was comfortable throughout but with there being very little for us to do when we returned to the Hotel maybe the Evening meal could have been sooner than what became the norm of 7:30 pm. Though I have a digestive disorder I thankfully didn't suffer as the portions given were not heavy. One night of our stay we had an Italian night meal in the Taverna attached to the Hotel and we were offered up many typical Italian starter dishes before being served pizza including one of our own choosing. Another night we enjoyed music and dancing from a local group after our meal. The buffet continental breakfast offered up all that we needed to start our day. An enjoyable stay which would have been improved by us being able to visit the local town.
