Recently we stayed at the Kaka Point Luxury Spa Accommodation, it was a fantastic place to stay and just unwind, the rooms overlook the beach and surrounding coastline and they are more than comfortable, the views from the room are just wonderful, no matter where you are sitting or lying down and you are only a quick walk away from the Point Hotel for eats and treats.
its just one of those places where as soon as you walk into the room you are relaxed and starting to unwind, there is a TV in the room but we never switched it on as the views were wonderful and you actually did not want to disturb the piece.
Take a book sit back, read and relax.
There are also some walks and drives you may want to go on why you are there .i.e the Purakanui Falls, Nugget Point and Jakes Blowhole just to name a few.
Suggest you call into Balclutha for supplies as the shops are limitied
Make the most of the stay
The main reason I chose to book this place was because it had a spa and it did not disappoint! The room had everything you would need. My partner and I bought our own food, there was plenty of room in the fridge and all of the utensils were there and it was awesome being able to eat breakfast looking at the amazing view! We went in winter but the heating was good they even put the heater on for us so it would be warm when we arrived. We both loved the bedding to the point where we want to go and buy the same set ourselves as our sheets at home just don't compare. Lots of things to go and sight see that isn't too far a drive away and the restaurant/bar is in walking distance that had really great food and was good for a few drinks with the locals! Defiantly recommend if you need to just get away from life for a few days and relax.
I read the reviews and agree with all the positive points made. The motel is well located with wonderful views of the ocean. Having floor to ceiling windows make it possible to admire the wonderful views. We stayed only for one night and used the two spacious rooms. Everything worked, the kitchen was well equipped, not that we used it. A couple of previous reviewers had indicated that the bathroom didn’t have all the amenities it needed. Well, perhaps the owners has taken care of all this as the bathroom had plenty of soap, shampoo, hand cream, etc. The towels were particularly great. The king size bed had a nice duvet which we needed to remove as it was hot, but the bed looked inviting when we arrived. The pillows were great. Having the two reclining chairs in the room was particularly nice. Why have a sofa in a place like this if you can have the stylish recliners to allow you to either watch TV or admire the views. In sum, it was a pleasure to stay here and will definitely come back. The internet worked well as well. Unfortunately we were too late to book the near by restaurant so it was fully booked, but we found another good restaurant in Owaka, which served great meals.
We were wowed by the apartment as soon as we arrived. Big windows giving panoramic views over the ocean and a luxury double spa bath just right at the end of a long day out. We were in the Port room which was very clean and well presented. Very comfortable beds and chairs and footstools to take in the views. Lovely balcony to sit and watch the ocean and enjoy a glass of beer or wine. So much to see including beaches with sea lions, rare yellow eyed penguins, beautiful scenic drives and more. Lisa is lovely and couldn’t be more helpful.
If you have time in the Catlins this is a must .
Loved my 2 nights here, I was in the Starboard room and the views over the bay were just amazing. A perfect spot to sit and drink your morning tea and relax...hours could be lost here watching the weather role in, the surfers or just the waves crashing against the beach. The Spa baths were a welcome change especially after a long walk.
Lisa (owner) was really helpful and ensured the apartment was well stocked with spa toiletries. This is a great spot to see the Catlins from. I could have easily spent longer here and would recommend it.
