We travelled here against FCO advice mid August with a young family. We were warmly met at reception by Carlos who upgraded our room and advised us of the safety precautions the hotel was taking and how we needed to observe them. The room was amazing and absolutely exceeded our expectations. Separate aircon in each bedroom and living quarters allowed for a good nights sleep for all. We were all inclusive the food was great something for everyone for every meal. The food was freshly prepared and snacks available at the poolside all day. The all inclusive drinks were all good too very acceptable Beer, spirits and soft drinks, ice cream on tap for the kids all day also was a pleasant experience Ole, one of the bar staff that stood out always provided service with a smile and Andrea in the restaurant constantly engaged with my young girls making them smile every mealtime. The pool, sun beds an all touch points were regularly cleaned and disinfected by the staff all through the day and the cleaners did an excellent job of servicing the room every day. The only thing I found a little overpriced was the room safe which cost us about €40 for 10 days but if your aware be prepared for the cost it’s something you can’t do without these days. We had an amazing holiday and were well looked after by the staff. The evening entertainment did what it should, entertained us, and the drinks flowed up to midnight if you wanted it to. We loved it so much that we have already booked for May 2021 all inclusive again. Well done Tamaimo Tropical we felt welcome and wanted especially in the difficult circumstances everyone was in.
We stayed here as a family of 5 with 2 young children.
The location is not great if you struggle with your mobility as it’s very hilly with a lot of steps in and around the resort.
Pros- very good food at all meal times with lots of variety. We are not particularly fussy but all food was hot with lots of choices. Breakfast was great with churros and pancakes which kept the kids happy. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and we sent compliments to the chef more than once.
Lots of space by the bigger pool and a nice layout.
The drinks were great and the cocktails were nice.
The entertainment team work very very hard and always had a smile on their faces despite seemingly working long hours.
Cons- as previously noted the surrounding area is very hilly so not great for those with mobility issues.
The area where they hold the evening entertainment is by the smaller pool and gets very crowded very quickly. The queue to get a drink during this time was ridiculous with sometimes having to wait 20 minutes.
The a la carte restaurant really isn’t worth the reservation as the food in the main restaurant is much better with a nicer atmosphere.
The biggest con of all were the cockroaches! I understand that it is a hot climate but they have a problem here.
We found at least 5 cockroaches in our ground floor room (one was in our suitcase- always close them once you’ve unpacked!).
We asked to be moved which was granted and we were given a room on a higher floor, we found cockroaches there too. Once we complained again they brought in a pest control company which in my opinion admits there is a problem.
They were quick to act but we were then faced with finding lots of dead cockroaches around the pool area, presumably killed by the pest control actions. It spoilt the holiday naturally and we wouldn’t return. A shame as there were good points
My girlfriend and I stayed here just before lockdown. In fact, our flight was one of the last out of the country.
On arrival , the lady at reception was very pleased to serve us, helpful and informative. A lovely smile always starts the holiday well 😀
Our room overlooked the 'noisy pool'. Its not noisy , just where the fun and games are. The room was spotless and modern. Air con , TV, sofa etc. A safe which was free to use ( just a returnable €10 deposit).
Unpacked and straight to the pool. Amazingly clean ! The pool guy ( I didn't get his name but he had curly hair and thick rimmed glasses ) was constantly cleaning the sunbeds and pool areas. You could see him every day testing the water and making sure it was to a top standard. This was reassuring , to know you are not swimming in filth. A lovely bar by the pool , which yes sometimes had a queue but the guys work efficiently and quick. And a pool snack bar.
Probably the best pool snack bar I have ever seen !! Normally , they wheel out some sweaty burgers and chips cooked elsewhere and put them in trays on the side somewhere. NO !
This is a beautiful , purpose built full on outside kitchen. Freshly cooked burgers , chips and hot dogs. A full temperature controlled salad bar. Cheese and ham wraps cut into little pieces ( go down great as nibbles with beer ) fruit and cakes. There was also a beautful pizza oven built into the wall but disappointingly this was not on during our stay.
There were hand sanitisation points everywhere, which again was reassuring.
The main restaurant .
This was spotless. The food was a very high standard for a 3 star.
A fully stocked temperature controlled salad bar with every item of salad you could wish for.
A hot buffet ( standard chicken dish , fish dish , chips etc )
A grill station making fresh chops / fish etc. The 2 guys that served here were brilliant. Again , I am sorry for forgetting their names but one was a young man ( big guy with a beard , who told us that his dad was a fisherman ) and an older guy with dark rimmed glasses. Always had a smile for us.
To accompany your meal there was a choice of about a dozen different bread choices too. A serve yourself drink station took care of things there. If there was space , you could sit outside and eat by the quiet pool. This was very nice .
Not really for us as it was more for families/ kids. We went andq had a few drinks but it seemed cramped into a corner and you couldn't get away from smokers.
There are a few bars within a 4/5 minute stroll if you want more life.
The daytime entertainment was a lot of fun . We joined in with some of the games which were ridiculously silly but brilliant at the same time. Chris (the German lad who seemed to run things ) was brilliant ! Join in , make friends and have a laugh !!
My only criticism was the fashion show. Two ladies turned up selling summer dresses etc.
This was lovely for up to 30 minutes but went on for far too long. Everyone was talking about it and taking the micky in the end. They did this twice in the one week we were there.
Apart from that little gripe , we loved the place. We paid less than £500 for a week in the sun , all inclusive. Its a winner 🏆
Stayed here wife and 2 children for 2 weeks. Weather was lovely, Pool was a little cool early doors, Food was great. The room was great and cleaned regularly. I would recommend going outside the hotel on an evening tho for entertainment.
We originally went self catering knowing the option to upgrade to all inclusive at reception was cheaper and was not disappointed, Kids would have bankrupted us with fizzy pop after a week.
We have been on a few family holidays now and for what we paid for this one was certainly value for money.
Went here for a week with partner and 2 children 16&11
We all loved it
Food was fine they have games in and around pool all day for kids and adults
A fashion show one day and clothes you can buy at good prices
Evening entertainment was great
Yes sometimes a bit of a queue for drinks but the staff go as fast as they can and were very nice
Room was great air conditioning great
But gets a bit cold at night and all entertainment outside so take a cardi or jumper
Can’t really say anything bad about the place really
Few shops and bars less than 5 mins away and little super market
There’s stairs opposite reception if you go up them and left a lovely cheap pizza shop
More shops and Lidl
And a fresh water pool bit further but we didn’t go there
Shop to book trips just around the corner from hotel we went on a boat trip and saw dolphins Then walked back from harbour to hotel maybe half hour away but got cab there always cabs outside hotel maybe only about €5 or something
Rocky beach just across the road from hotel
I would definitely go back there
