My parents and I stayed one night as stopover on our way to Luderitz. My father communicated with the owner Ria before our arrival and she was extremely helpful with the booking and advising of some of the local attractions. When we arrived at the lodge, the lady at reception seemed very distracted but helped us with relative speed to get our keys. When we were leaving to "walk" to our accommodation, we asked where this particular unit was and it was only at that point that she let us know that it was down the road, completely separate from the main area - definitely not in walking distance. (Not a huge issue for us but could definitely be a problem for some people. )
The accommodation, although a bit small, was well equipped and clean. The "bedroom" did not have full walls up to the ceiling and the bathroom had shutter windows that opened directly into the living area - once again, not a issue but be warned that you hear EVERYTHING.
It was OK for one night, but wouldn't consider it for longer than a stopover.
The check in was pretty bad, because there was nobody to check in with and we didn’t know where to go, but after we had found a cook we got into a wonderful comfortable room with our own stoep. The mattress was amazing and the WiFi was really good too. And the food, my goodness, the steaks are fantastic! But my highlight was Mancha the dog!!
The a la carte menu is comprehensive and the food very good. Breakfast was okay but not spectacular. The rooms are spacious and comfortable but are NOT equipped for self-catering. All in all a lovely stay and we hope to be back!
Rooms are clean, parking is next to the room,we arrived on A sunday There are no restaurants open on A Sunday we had lunch in Rosh Pinah,There were 2 plates of food in our room we had to heat up in the microwave, rooms have A fridge, airco,tv and A small stoep were you can sit outside,Make sure your had your breakfast behoren 8 am,we were there at 8:00 and halfway during our breakfast they start cleaning up So we didnt het the chance to take A full breakfast, dispite the other reviews these are not the friendly people we read about
We stayed for one night at Op My Stoep in Oranjemund.
We are a family of 5 with smallish kids, and they prepared a family room with double bed and 3 single beds for us.
The unit had a small kitchen and bathroom with toilet, shower and basin which was perfect for us.
We had dinner in the restaurant: the kids had spagetti bolognese (lovely), hubby had a steak (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and I a mussel pot (too saucy).
The hosts are really friendly and shared interesting stories from the area as well as suggested places to visit.
We booked breakfast (R50 for adults and R30 for kids😲), which consisted out of jogurt, cereal, toast, egg, sausage, bacon and juice, tea and coffee.
It was a really great experience and we’ll definitely stay here again!
