Just left the Canareef Resort after two idyllic weeks. The resort is not high sophistication but it is wonderful for a relaxing comfortable holiday. The standard of cleanliness is second to none. The jacuzzi villas are large, cool, and well appointed and positioned. We had twice daily service and the standard was high. The resort is 4.8 km long and not busy or crowded. The buggies ferrying us to and from the bar, beach, pool and restaurant came quickly and we’re far more comfortable than the bikes provided!! I must congratulate the restaurant on providing great fresh and varied meals three times a day. Well done to the chefs !! All the staff are friendly and cheerful. Asim and Reina looked after us sooo well and the girls in the bars especially Simla and Jasmine kept us watered with a constant supply of cocktails !
BIG congratulations to the Canareef resort for giving us such happy memories of a superb holiday. X

This is the most perfect island to just 'get away'. It was almost empty whilst we were there and this must be due to the bad reports. The beach was clean and we hardly spotted any rubbish lying around. The villa we had was absolute luxury. Yes it does still need some work but the main put-off has to be the very long journey. Everyone can find something to complain about wherever they go - but you have to take some of these with a pinch of salt. We had the most amazing massages in the spa and the choice of treatments was huge. The food in the restaurant was really well cooked, plenty of variety, lots of spice and curry. Not much fresh fruit or veg - but hey they don't actually grow it here and its not Tesco. I am notoriously picky but managed 3 meals each day, with at least 3 desserts every day too. They can cook rice and curry like nowhere else. The chefs were so friendly and every day had a chat with us. Waiters were lovely and their english is so good. We were made to feel very special whilst we were there. Snorkelling is not possible from the island - if you go on the trips you must be a good swimmer as the currents are very strong - I tried it but just couldn't manage as I am a 'holiday swimmer'. If you want to go for a pool holiday, and it's a huge olympic size pool, with beautiful beach walks, fabulous surroundings and absolute serenity - choose Handufushi.

On arrival at Male International Airport we were greeted by staff from Herathera and taken to the domestic flight check-in to Gan Airport. At Gan we found staff waiting for us and took us nicely to the resort. It was so great of them to make the way easier for us after all the travelling to reach the Maldives. On arrival at the resort we were given a nice cold drink and the villa keys were given to us without any waiting. We were in Villa 104. The best villa we could get. Apart from being so nice and clean it was close to everywhere; to the beach, to the pool, to the restaurant, to the jetty, to the reception and the gift shop... Room was lovely. Always kept spotlessly clean by their respectful staff. Never a belonging was touched or misplaced by them which I really appreciated. Restaurant had such awesome food. We were never short of choices. Loved everything of their dishes. Waiters were always serving us with a smile. Despite the sea being a bit warm in the afternoon, however, we still could enjoy ourselves by the pool at Dhoni bar. Staff were great. Service was excellent. What I would like to mention is that despite the several other comments we read about the high price of the drinks at the resort, however, I think the prices were the same as in every European city we have visited. We were so pleased by our stay at Herathera. We have no complaints at all. Highly recommend it. Thank you all at Herathera. We had the time of our lives with you!

Me and my husband have spent our honeymoon and New Year’s Eve at Canareef Resort, and we’ve spent the best 10 days ever!
We chose the all-inclusive formula and the food was amazing, local and international, different every day.

The services in the resort are very well organised, there is a spa and a sports center, you can do water sports and dive, and you can move around the island with bikes or buggies. The beach bar is very cool, the beach is beautiful and you can freely snorkel. You can also buy excursions to see the dolphins, fish or snorkel around the coral reef.

The staff is very welcoming and helpful, always smiling, we only felt positive vibes.
We especially wanted to thank Didi (from the activities department) for his kindness since the very first day of our stay.
He explained everything very well the day we arrived and helped us everytime we had a problem or question. We also made a private excursion with him, and it has been the most wonderful excursion we’ve made at Canareef resort, we’ve seen to many things! Didi is a very reliable, professional and kind person!🫶🏼

Big up also to Rishard from the pool bar and the girls at the beach/pool bar!🍹🧉

THANK YOU!

Four of us (adults) travelled a day and a half from the UK in November to reach Addu, the southernmost Atoll in the Maldives... and it was worth it!

We gambled a little with the weather; November is the end of the rainy season, but quieter than December to April. The few rain showers we had were warm and probably prevented more sunstroke! We still saw plenty of sun, and the air was wonderfully warm throughout (29-33C, and the water was 26-29C).

The staff were friendly, polite and professional, without exception. The all-inclusive buffets three times a day were wonderful and varied: always something to suit everyone, and my wife's gluten intolerance was catered for with great care. There was only one functioning restaurant for most of our trip, but I others are under renovation and opening soon.

Unlike some other resorts, this island is quite 'wild', with lovely trees, lizards, birds and fruit bats! For us, the fact that it was less like a glossy brochure was a GOOD thing - we hated hearing that seaweed is dredged from the shallow waters around some other islands just to improve people's photos... leave nature alone!!

Indeed, although there wasn't much rubbish on the beach, we would suggest the resort considers providing garbage bags in the villas as an option for those guests who wish to actively participate in picking up the odd plastic and other items from the beach: Ocean pollution is everyone's problem!

We visited Addu primarily for scuba-diving, and we used the resident dive company: Forest Blu Diving, who provided a first-class diving service. Nisal and Maasha are lovely, relaxed, considerate people who care about their customers and the diving experience they provide. They are also fantastic divers who have taken the time to learn about their Atoll and know the best dive sites depending on conditions. Our party of four were not particularly experienced divers but we all felt completely at ease with the clear briefings and safe dives. We enjoyed learning of Nisal's diving experiences and marvelled at how little air he used every dive! The gear was in great condition; the boat and crew were wonderful; we loved every one of our fabulous 14 dives and wished we could have fitted in more! 28-degree water, 25-metre viz and life like an aquarium: mantas, sharks, Napoleons, turtles and beautiful reef life! Thank you so much for taking the time to show us the highlight dives of this beautiful Atoll: Mudahon (repeatedly!), Bodu Hoholha, the British Loyalty wreck (a fabulous dive), and the numerous other peaceful, chilled reefs. We will return!

In addition, we explored the island, found good snorkelling, and swam in the Olympic-size pool. There were three bars and two pools to hang out by, and plenty of space for peace and quiet. We used the (reasonable) gym, played tennis and enjoyed the complementary bicycles (though many of these could do with an overhaul) ...no matter, the walking was flat, and buggies were also readily available! We would also recommend the Dolphin Cruise - we saw over 100 Spinner Dolphins!

The facilities were okay, and likely to be improved-upon constantly, along with the renovation of older villas; all a reminder of the effects that Covid-19 has had on tourism throughout the Maldives.

In my view there is currently not much here for kids; I would recommend this as destination for adults; again, this suited us entirely.

All in all, we had the most amazing holiday and will return one day in the hope that not too much has changed!

Thank you, all at Canareef!
