I stayed in the hotel for a few days. The room was clean, tidy and nicely decorated. The best feature was the amazing sea view from the room and its two balconies. Mrs Alexandra and her husband Babis are always available for anything you need and make you feel at home. Will definitely repeat.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for three nights. Alexandria was accommodating and fit us in at short notice. The rooms were nice and a had great view. However, the last day that we stayed there, our laptop and about $80 American dollars went missing. Both were in a backpack that never left the room, so someone who was in our room opened it up to steal our valuables. When we told Alexandria what happened, her kind tone went away to "my employees didn't do it, what kind of place do you think I run?" Needless to say, the nice view was definitely not worth the price we paid for getting about $2000 worth stolen. I would highly recommend staying elsewhere unless you have nothing of value with you or your valuables are securely locked up.

I was in Settember in this hotel for 4 nights and I only say "WONDERFUL", the spacious room with a little kitchen, the clening of the kind Popi, the position in front of the sea with a fantastic sunset in the evening, the kindness and the discretion of the owners Alexandra and Babis, there is only a noise of the waves of the sea during the night.
The price of 60 Euros x night in September is a little more than the other hotels or private rooms, but is a quality of comfort and fornitures that is with one step above of the others,of this beatiful insland with the carribean beach and sea !!
If you want, you can also have a good breakfast with a little difference more of the room price, always in front of the sea, that is only on the other side of the little street that devide the hotel and the beach, about 4 meters.
I suggest it for couples, family and quite people that love sea, tranquility and relax.
Thanks for all Alexandra,Babis and Popi and we hope to see you next years.

We arrived on the island midday with no fixed plans. Most hotels are closed in October - as my Greek husband advises, it is winter soon. It was 28 degrees and the swimming is warm and the beaches are empty. The hotel was the only place open and I was sure it would be pricey. 35 euros later we were settled in to a small, clean room with a kitchenette space and a patio to soak up the sun in.
The beach across the street is fine to swim in. The large pipe on the sea bed brings in fresh water from the mainland. And you can hear the sounds of the waves all night long if you leave the shutters open.
The hotel is in the little town and very close to the shops and restaurants. A little bakery close to the harbour sells spanakopita which is perfect for breakfast. And there were more than one little grocery with fruit and other treats.
The two beaches out of town were a ten minute drive away and are calm and clear.
I enjoyed this little island so much I plan to return for much longer next year.

We arrived on Elafonisos without booking anything in advance , it was a risk we were prepared to take as the high season was at its end. We had not visited the island before but knew that we wanted to be close to the main village so we could walk to the tavernas and bars in the evening, plus we wanted a beautiful sea view. We were quite happy to drive to the beautiful Simos beach which is only 5 minutes away (this is something you must decide on before visiting the island, do you prefer to stay in the village and take the short drive to the beach or vice versa). We choose Golden star mainly due to its location, it’s on the quieter side of the village but still within strolling distance from everything you need, in fact there is a mini market less than a 100 meters away, and next door both a cafè/ bar and Taverna with tables and chairs nestling in the sand at the water’s edge. There is a little beach right in front of the hotel and we could hear the lapping of the waves from our room and the sunsets from our private balcony were just stunning. The rooms are spotlessly clean and charming in a simple way with pretty wrought iron beds and crisp white linen. There is the facility to make (instant) coffee or tea in your room plus a fridge for keeping essential items chilled, there is a hairdryer, air conditioning, flat screen TV, free internet access (wifi) and a lady swept the floors and emptied the bins in our room each morning during our short stay. The owners Babis and Alexandra were charming and friendly, and Babis went out of his way to show us which rooms were available and made us feel really welcome. Our only regret was that we didn’t stay longer and that we didn’t discover this delightful island years ago. Without a doubt we will be back next year and Golden star will be our first choice. visit Golden stars website for great pictures of the interior & exterior of the hotel. http://www.goldenstarelafonisos.gr/
