We visited The Steam Packet on Sunday 16th April. We found the menu varied and very good value for money. We all loved our starters which were Prawn Cocktail, Prawn in filo pastry, pate and oatcakes and an amazing plate of skullen skink soup. The mains were also great and I could not finish the amazing chilli and garlic battered chicken....

As the restaurant in the village was closed our B&B hosts recommended the Steam Packet Inn. We arrived at 6pm, not realising food was not served until 6.30pm. This did not matter as the wine was excellent and we enjoyed watching the seals in the harbour. The menu was very varied and there were a number of dishes which appealed...

Fifty years ago I was a regular weekend visitor to 'The Isle' staying with my uncle and going mackerel fishing. Having to come back to the area to inter my mother's ashes allowed me the opportunity to fulfil a long held ambition, to spend some time at the Steam Packet Inn. As a youth I could only look longingly through...

Whilst holidaying for a week in the village we called into the Inn most nights. Very friendly atmosphere & great food. If you are into real ale you will find a good selection to try out. Had some good nights with the locals & visitors alike. A dog friendly place which makes them very welcome. Food portion sizes are very...

We had a great time staying here over a long weekend in February. It was cold but you don't go to places like this for the tropical weather(although there are palm-trees in some of the village gardens). Fabulous room with nice view onto the harbour, toilet tile floor is outrageously cold in the middle of the night...wear slippers or something....

We called into the Isle of whithorn just for a nosey. We ended up spending the last 3 days of our holiday here. Each time eating in the steam packet in. What was nice was our dog was allowed in and made a fuss off. What an absolutely fabulous place. The food was perfect. Every time. I stuck to the...

We visited and ate here twice in our 3-night stay in Isle of Whithorn... what a lovely pub! A warm and welcoming refuge from the wind and rain! Staff were extremely friendly (towards us and our border terrier!) and the food was delicious - hearty, huge portions, good choice and v tasty! A good wine selection too, and beers on...

Return visit after almost 2 years, food was excellent, service good and staff as friendly as ever. Made extra special being attended to by Alistair in his traditional dress.( very dashing)😉 The steam packet also caters bed and breakfast and I believe that is every bit as good. To top it all they are dog friendly 🐶
