The Drury Homestead is a classic, old-school BnB with lots of antiques and florals, helpful hosts and a generous cooked breakfast. You feel like a guest in the hosts home. Our room was cozy and warm. There is free wi-fi (you may need to request the password), a bar fridge in the hallway, and TV in a communal lounge-room. The... More

A warm welcome, beautiful accommodation, in the morning a prettily set table for breakfast where you are served a bowl of seasonal fruit followed by eggs from Ron and Carolyns own hens, fresh field mushrooms that Ron had picked on the morning delicious cured bacon, sausages, tomatoes followed by home made bread and jams if you could possibly fit it... We arrived after dark the night before our flight back home. What a great place to spend our last night in New Zealand. Carolyn immediately made us feel at home by showing us to a comfortable room on the second floor. Right outside our door was a table with teas and cookies which we enjoyed. Breakfast the next morning included... More

We spent one night at this lovely B&B on the edge Drury before travelling to Auckland airport. The 19th house has been beautifully restored by the present owners in the Victorian style. The bedrooms are comfortable and full of character. Perfect en suite facilities in our rooms. The hosts could not have been more hospitable. Breakfast with bacon, egg and... More

We stayed a night before heading to Auckland airport at the end of our holiday, and we delighted that we had not picked a motel or airport hotel. This is a lovely comfortable old colonial house, with super hosts. Carolyn kindly made us a dinner reservation when we asked her advice before arriving, and made us an excellent breakfast. It's... Imagine our surprise after just touching down in Auckland to find ourselves in what can only be described as the most pastoral setting ever - just 20 minutes or so outside of Auckland. The Drury Homestead is charming and our hosts, Carolyn and Ron, every bit as much. The setting of their lodge is lovely, the gardens surrounding it gorgeous,... More

We arrived early morning from LA, in a bit of a daze. We knew our first day would be tough, but Carolyn and Ron instantly made us feel like members of their family. So we just plopped ourselves down in their lovely guest lounge and talked and laughed for the entire morning. Carolyn gave us excellent recommendations for dining and... More

Lovely old homestead with private rooms and bathrooms, and a guest lounge. Owners live on site but not intrusive- up for a chat if you are. Carolyn makes a wonderful cooked breakfast using fresh eggs from the farm and home made jams etc from fruit trees. Highly recommend. We are staying again later in the year.

My fellow travellers were not too sure about staying out of Auckland which was our destination for the next day but all agreed it was an inspired choice when we left after 2 nights. If you are after minimalist modern accommodation, this is not for you. The house is a tribute to fine china and eclectic collecting. We were 2... More
