Very basic camp site but you really feel as if you are in the real Africa ! We got a story and dance show from the San people who run the camp and it was simply wonderful. The following morning we got a one hour bush walk and we all thoroughly enjoyed that also. Highly highly recommended !

Four of us stayed at the lodge for two nights in August. We were really impressed with the set-up, the friendliness of the hosts, delicious food and the welcome that we received. The lodge is basic but it has a real charm and its unique point is that everything is done by the San bushmen. It is very peaceful and... More

Not many people were here so we could sit by the fire by ourselves. Atmosphere was good and we took a walk with a San man in the next morning. There was some bother to actually get a key for my room but this was solved. There was never any hot water which we were not informed about and in... More

A stay at the Dqae Qare San Lodge is a unique and delightful experience. I recently visited for two nights and one day, and spent the day foraging for wild foods in the bush and cooking together with the lodge's wildlife tracker Kaoge and Qamxho and Khamxae from the San community that owns and runs the lodge. I was specifically... More

Visited the Lodge during the yearly Kuru Dance Festival where San Dance groups but also other groups from South Africa, Namibia etc. came to show their cultural dances. The event was a special and unique experience and the lodge provided good breakfast and dinner with nice and clean rooms.

We recently spent four nights at the lodge and it wasn't long enough....This was an amazing experience ,spending time with committed people who really want to share their culture and ancestral knowledge with interested visitors. We went on long bush walks, learned or at least tried to learn how to make ostrich eggshell jewelry, how to start a fire without... More

In early January of this year I spent three nights at Dqae Qare San Lodge, a farm to support the local San community. The lodge is very affordable at $65.00 per night, including full breakfast and and three-course dinner. My room was simply furnished and clean. The only negative was the mosquito netting. At first sight I was enchanted, seeing... More

Dear Janet These are such wonderful words of encouragement, thank you so much. It means a great deal to all the San at Dqae Qare striving to offer something, on their own, on their own land, at a service level equal to the very best. D'qae Qare is a one of a kind place - not an upscale tourist lodge nor a really exciting game reserve, rather a unique cultural stay. The farm and lodge are run by the San who live in nearby D'kar. The community members learn different aspects of running the lodge, then they take shifts to come for a time to... More

It makes me really sad to give a bad review to this Lodge because of the idea that I may jeopardize the San community's revenue. It is my first "Horrible" review and that's due to the fact that I spent so much money for a hotel that wouldn't give me the basic services a tourist expects from a Lodge this... More

Dear Bruno We are certainly sorry to hear of your awful experience. It is really difficult to respond directly though when the reviewer is anonymous (we can't trace you) and the review comes six months after your stay. I would offer the following by way of explanation: The first point is that the San MUST be able to manage the... More

A fairly basic lodge, but perfectly clean and comfortable. The food and service were very good. The entertainment of the San bushmen was really good as well. It's good to know that the locals get some of the profits from this enterprise.
