We spent a night at the Red Lion Inn before our visit to Doune Castle. The rooms were comfortable and well laid out, and both the pub and restaurant were excellent -- great food at a good value. Incredibly friendly staff.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Red Lion Inn, Doune. With warm welcomes from the Landlord, Bar Staff and the locals, we settled into our cosy, well decorated room before going down into the pub restaurant for our evening meal. Fantastic food and great menu. Would highly recommend the Red Lion as a place to stay....

When we made a booking we made sure that we can have dinner in the in-house restaurant. After the long journey we finally arrived hoping to get some warm food soon. Unfortunately we have been informed that the kitchen is closed today and there is no food available. Left with no other option we had to go out to find...

My husband and I had booked our overnight at a different B&B, but happened on the Red Lion for a few drinks and food. Jamie and his staff were such a pleasure and gave us one of our most memorable experiences in Scotland. We wish we had been able to stay overnight (though our neighboring place was fine), and will...

My bestie and I (two travel agents from Nova Scotia) spent 2 weeks travelling through Scotland and spent the night at The Red Lion in Doune (home of Doune Castle and the filming site for Outlander’s fictional Castle Leoch for you fans). What a special little inn with big amenities! 5-star treatment began the moment of check-in. We entered through...

This 200 year old Inn is located within walking distance to the historic Doune Castle. The room was small but tidy. My only complaint was the very noisy toilet. I know this was simple unavoidable due the problems of adding plumbing to a building that never had it to begin with. Loved the low ceilings but for someone over 6...

The outside of the Red Lion looks unpromising, but the Dining Room (on the left of the entrance) is clean and well arranged. We had the vegetarian choice of the day - roasted cauliflower and hazelnut carbonara with garlic bread. It was in every way admirable, and was followed by a very tasty dessert, all at an attractively low price....

We arrived without booking and were, on initial viewing, pleased with the basic but clean accommodation. Then we realized the room had no ventilation, and the large skylight's cover had apparently blown mostly off some time ago, judging by the mold, leaving no way to block the light. We decided to stay anyway, despite towel and toilet roll holders nearly...

Good location with a collection of old buildings joined together and friendly people to chat with in the bar. That's the good stuff. Now for the rest. We stayed for a couple of nights in room #5. It's big room that can sleep four. The beds are a little lumpy and the linens were not changed or even made during...

Looking for a dog friendly place to stay near Blairdrummond Safari Park we saw this. It was a bit old fashioned but had a nice spacious room with a comfy bed. At this time of year it was a bit quiet but this suited us. Breakfast was fine but no evening meals served Monday and Tuesday although landlord offered to...
