The stay at Matakana Castle was lovely. Everything is very relaxed and welcoming. It's not ultra chic luxury if that's what you're expecting, but instead warm and genuine hospitality. The breakfast was absolutely amazing and the view from the dining room was very nice. Highly recommended.

My wife and I escaped from the kids to Matakana Castle for 3 days mid Winter. We were the only guests at the time and were treated like royalty! We enjoyed fabulous breakfasts, warm fires and great hospitality. The bedroom was large and the bed was just sublime - very large and the perfect firmness. Fantastic attention to detail (2...

We stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of the NZ winter and adored it. Natalie, the owner, is exceptional - offering such an hospitable welcome. She was charming, helpful and very relaxed. Her attention to detail was excellent - a roaring fire greeted us each evening and morning; on the first night she served us a...

We had two nights accommodation in the writing room of the beautifully managed Matakana Castle. Natalie and John are warm and friendly hosts of this immaculately kept boutique accommodation. Our stay was a birthday present to my husband from his family and we can totally recommend this place to anyone. There is so much to enjoy and explore around the...

We stayed for two nights in the Tower Suite of this immaculately maintained property. A quiet and luxurious retreat. A platter of antipasto and glass of wine each awaited us after we settled in to our spacious and comfortable suite, with dual vanities, double shower and walk-in dressing room. A small box of local chocolates and biscuits completed the welcome....

We had 3 lovely days here. Natalie and John are brilliant hosts, the room was very comfortable with stunning views and breakfasts were great. A nice touch was drinks and nibbles early evening. Lots to do and see close by including marvellous beaches and national parks. All round a wonderful stay.
