After staying here numerous times, it never gets old. Karlas and Willy provide exceptional service and hospitality. It is fairly easy to get to from golfito with a short water taxi ride and once you get here, you will never want to leave. A constant breeze from the water makes up for the humidity and the food is outstanding. Best...

Excellent staff, perfect location right on the beach, live local music and often excellent visiting live bands in January/Febuary. Located right on a safe swimming beach full of bioluminescent phytoplankton that light up like fireflies in the water when you swim at night (Especially on nights with no moon). With permission from the very kind owners and some responsible fire...

Just returned from 3 nights at Sol Y Mar at Playa Zancudo, my first trip there. The accommodations are spacious wood cabins with a private baths, comfortable beds and a front porch that faces the beach across a lovely garden with tropical plants and coconut palms. The beach is 6 miles long, you can walk nearly forever, seashells, driftwood, and...

My wife and I first visited Sol y Mar 15 years ago, then again 10 years ago. This year (2016) we returned for our third visit. The amazing thing was that it felt like no time at all had passed since our previous visits. The only difference was the welcome addition of free wi-fi. But everything else was as wonderful...

I think this may be my favorite place I have been in Costa Rica so far! It takes a while to drive here, the road is a little rough, but that is part of what makes it so special! You truly feel like you are at the end of the world. There is a gorgeous long black sand beach to...

I've stayed at the Sol y Mar at least six times over the past ten years... Location is a budget-travelers dream; million dollar beach/ocean-front location at a reasonable price... Not a place for visitors expecting all the material amenities--it has clean and comfortable cabins viewing the beach... Owners, Rick & Lori, and staff are warm, friendly and entertaining... The bar/restaurant...

This is an excellent location with the Sol Y Mar Restaurant nearby and more Restaurants and a convenience store a short walk or taxi ride away. There's almost always a nice breeze from the ocean. No Wi Fi in the room but there is free Wi Fi at the Restaurant. The room needed a bit of TLC and the plastic...

Rick and Lori were very helpful to me when planning our holiday by email and Facebook. Fabulous spot to unwind. Recommend flying to SJO, then catching a small flight to Golfito and catching the water taxi to Zaancudo.... It's a long, long drive...

Walked to this bar/restaurant 1-2 times a day for drinks or food. Always felt welcome. Don't be in a hurry, relax!! Things take a little longer but your on vacation!! Food was fine but the friendly staff made up for what was lacking. Only restaurant RIGHT on the beach. Live music was very good and lots of fun!

Sol Y Mar is my idea of paradise. Great waves nearby, beachfront bar with great food and great service. Rick, Lori, Karla and Willy are like family to me now. I will return as often as I possibly can. Rick and Lori have created such a great atmosphere, it fits Zancudo perfectly and it is somewhere I will always return....

“There are bands and a local singer at the Sol Y Mar Restaurant a couple of nights a week. Great entertainment, but if you aren't in the mood to listen all night ask for a Cabina away from the Restaurant.”
