My husband and I spent a night here between the going to the Green Hills elephant preserve and trekking to Lake Inle. It was a terrific place to stay. A lovely house reminiscent of the Cotswolds. We had a large corner room that was very comfortable. The staff was welcoming and friendly. As other reviewers have said the hot water bottles and fire in the fireplace at bedtime are very welcome in the chilly evening weather. The restaurant was good and the service particularly personal. I wold recommend the Amara highly. Only suggestion for improvement might be more or towels (there was one small towel for each of us) to complete the otherwise very cozy feel.
Such a lovely welcome to this beautiful old world hotel. It took me back to childhood. Log fires in your room at night as it gets chilly, staff that go above & beyond. Roaring fire in dinner room at night but dress warm for breakfast. Good WiFi, garden loungers & chairs in a nice garden. Town, station & caves are nearby. Could have spent another day or two relaxing here. I had been struck down with a stomach bug before I got here & the supplied me with ginger tea, bananas & rice. Lovely staff
We spend 2 Nights at this superb resort.... We had a Deluxe room with a extra bed for our 24 Years old daughter. Room is nice and clean with a colonial feel design ....the butler come to lit your fire place in the evening ....simply fantastic feeling. Beautiful ground / gardens with rare botanical species... Great service during Breakfast and dinner and excellent food ...and drinks! Best hotel to stay in KALAW as it has 11 Rooms only and offers more personalized service with a well a well trained local team. We love it, Will be back !
We stayed at this old Colonial Hill Station for 2 nights. The room was comfortable, a bit dimly lit and in need of some updated local artwork and no TV. They lit a fire for us and brought hot water bottles for our beds. The staff were wonderful and the food very good. Our second night was Christmas Eve and they made a huge effort to put on a wonderful garden party event for the 10 or so guests, beautiful lighting, great food, a local band played music and the staff did traditional dancing. The finale was really fun and very amusing. We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed here as it wasn’t too long a ride to the Green Mountain Elephant Camp which was wonderful too. Highly recommended and we would definitely go again.
The hospitality and service of the staff was fantastic, very accommodating with our dietary needs. It is very beautiful and serene with a lovely quintessential british feel to the place. Due to being abit higher up, it was quite chilly, they had open log fires in the room which was the most homely feeling. They refilled the logs and ensured the fire was burning. ne slight tip is watch out for the mossy's! We were bitten quite alot whilst we went for dinner. The views from this hotel are great over looking greenery and forest, lovely views for having breakfast and looking out over. We were quite tired when we arrived so spent time chilling out and only ventured out for dinner so not too sure what else was on offer.
