We have stayed in some more expensive, more fancy accommodation on our holiday, but we actually loved staying here.

It is simple but very clean. There are fantastic views from the rooftop, our hostess was lovely, so friendly and helpful, and you can't fault the free breakfast.

This is a great place to stay.

A 10 minute walk or couple of minutes ride in a truck from the train station. The Golden Kalaw Inn is well located overlooking the lovely little town of Kalaw. Very short walk to shops, market, bars & eateries. We had a fabulous room on the top floor where there was a large communal terrace which had terrific views over the town and of the sunset & sunrise. It was spotlessly clean and the double bed was wonderfully comfortable after spending about 14 hours on uncomfortable trains from Yangon & Thazi. There was free Wifi in the hotel which seemed to be better in the lobby than the room which wasn't a problem to us.

The lady on reception was lovely and very informative. Breakfast was plentiful. I had stacks of pancakes and fruit. Our only regret is due to the fact we were joining a trek the next day we could only stay for one night.

We arrived on the 4am bus and were able to check in straight away with the staff which was great.
Staff were so helpful we were given a map of the town and places suggested to us to eat and visit.
They also helped book our bus tickets for after our hike to Mandalay which was great.
The rooms are really clean and the beds are comfortable enough.
Breakfast in the morning was a choice of different things such as fried rice, pancakes etc...
Really happy with our stay here

Stayed here for 1 night before going trekking. The rooftop area is great for watching sunsets, and I got a great nights sleep even though my room was off the main reception area! Wifi was only available in the reception area but I didn't think that was a problem, there's plenty to tables to sit at!
I found the place to be clean and the host was very friendly, answering all of my (many) queries very patiently. Would recommend!

My boyfriend and I found the hotel when we were finding somewhere to leave our rucksacks for two days whilst we went trekking. The lovely lady owner kindly let us leave our bags free of charge despite us offering to pay her. We were glad when we managed to complete our trek in one day instead of two so could come and stay the night. The rooms are basic but clean and the breakfast was pleasant too - all round good value for money. The highlight of this place is defiantly the lovely owner. She's happy to help you to organize your time in kalaw and give advice with no hidden agenda. I would 100% recommend this hotel for great service, clean, budget accommodation.

We had a very good experience in the place: Two bed room (two single beds) with private bathroom, clean, cosy and the lady at the reception was so helpful! Arranged last minute laundry before I had to leave for the trek, offered information and booking on tours and buses without trying to sell what she offers, good breakfast with pancakes, free drinking water, rooftop terrace. Enjoy!

If you are thinking of some badget trip, this one might be a right choice. It is situated in downtown, kinda like 4mins walk from Kalaw Market and 15mins drive to Hnee Phaya. It is really convenient with stores, ticket booths, parcel counter (in case you wanna send some parcel), whatever you want, just name it, it's right there. There are also clinic and trekking service centers around (Eagle trekking if you want a name).

Our stay at the Golden Kalaw Inn wasn't anything spectacular.

The room was clean, the beds were decently comfortable but there was little else of note.

Our room had a queen sized bed and two twins which is perfect for our family of 4. The room also had a mini fridge which was nice to keep water, beer and milk cold. The bathroom was tiny. So small, in fact, that I couldn't sit straight on the toilet because my knees hit the wall. I had to sit sideways, which is really uncomfortable. The shower had a good flow of hot water but the shower head didn't stay up on the wall so we had to use the wand. I really enjoyed the communal balcony outside our room. We stayed at the hotel with friends and were able to sit out there, having drinks and enjoying the view of Kalaw.

The hotel provides breakfast for guests but it is limited to crepes, marmalade, bananas, tea and coffee... every day. We were sick of the limited options after day 1.

The owner of the hotel (or manager maybe) was very helpful in giving restaurant suggestions and any other travel advice we asked for.

The hotel has wifi but it didn't work for me so I just used the data on my mobile phone.

The 4 person family room cost us 65,000 Kyat.

One of the great things about the hotel is the location. It's situated a short walk up the hill from the centre of town. Rooms on the front of the hotel have a great view.

If I end up back in Kalaw, I think I'd check to see if there are other options available but would be willing to come back if I couldn't find something better.

She is so nice and helpful for extra facilities such as arranging trekking.
It has a good location, because it looks like standing highest among the other building. The other amenities are so so.
I want to come again for certain.
