We stayed here recently as we were attending a wedding at a nearby venue. Having not had a holiday for a while due to Covid we decided to book a superior deluxe room as a long weekend break. Upon entering our room (room 209) we heard a very loud noise coming from the radiator as if it was continuously filling. We phoned down to reception who asked maintenance to look at it while we were out having a couple of drinks. Unfortunately nothing could be done to stop the noise so we requested to change rooms. No other superior deluxe rooms were available so we were transferred to a standard room for 1 night with the promise of a superior deluxe room for the 2nd night. This issue was dealt with so well by the hotel and we were more than adequately compensated by a refund of our first night and a complimentary bottle of champagne. It’s not the things that go wrong that you remember but they was in which issues are resolved and the staff did an amazing job. We had dinner in the hotel the first night and the food was amazing, the beef was cooked to perfection! All the staff were friendly and attentive and gave us all the information we needed on checking in. It wasn’t the stay we wanted but we had a great weekend despite this.

Excellent golf break for 14. The refurbished rooms are superb, staff were attentive, the food was really good and the courses in good condition. We had an amazing two days at a more than reasonably price. We will be back very soon. Thank you. .

Stayed at the Hawkstone hotel for a birthday golf trip. The hotel itself is nice and comfortable and rooms are good and clean. Golf courses are very good and challenging on both. Here’s the bad parts. The Lyle bar shuts at 6!!! What’s the point?? Golfers coming in after that to be told it’s closed. In the actual hotel there is nothing to do, just a restaurant and bar. No TVs, no amenities, no leisure nothing, as for the evening meal if you don’t like what’s on offer your screwed! Because there is nothing else on offer. Breakfast was great though, staff ok. Manager didn’t have a clue what they were doing though. You can’t close the other bar when hotel guests want to use it for food or to chill out.

A magnificient hotel in the countryside. Room lovely with wet room. Everything you could want. Amazing staff who couldn't be more helpful. Gardens beautiful and spacious. Even had an audio tour of the hotel which was most interesting. Dinner in the evening was delicious and service excellent. Plentiful breakfast in lovely surroundings. A luxurious rural retreat! We will be back!

Hawkstone Park Hotel near Shrewsbury purports to be a 3-4 star hotel. I would be struggling to give it 2 stars at the very most. It’s difficult to imagine how a building with such a beautiful façade and in such stunning surroundings can be so incredibly badly managed. The place seems to revolve totally around golfers and wedding parties, with no consideration for travelling visitors. All of the staff were very young (not a criticism in itself) and, seemingly, very inexperienced and left totally unmanaged. On finding our room (we were pointed to roughly where it was, but with no offer of help with luggage) we found the room was very dirty in places and had been only partly serviced, with only one towel in the bathroom and just two very thin and shabby pillows on the double bed. I eventually went down to reception as nobody answered several calls on the phone, and, after complaining, someone eventually arrived with more towels and proper pillows. The restaurant is in a modern, glass fronted extension which is potentially quite nice, BUT it shares a common area with the bar. Consequently, enjoying a quiet, relaxing dinner is out of the question with large drinking and laughing parties just a few feet away. Breakfast was also a bit of a revelation; we sat at a table, were given a small cardboard box containing a muffin, a cereal bar and an orange drink. We eventually managed to find a server who asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast. We said YES, this is a restaurant isn’t it! The place was very noisy with a wedding reception going on, and some people, possibly from the wedding party, took great delight in running down corridors hammering loudly on all the bedroom doors at 2 and 3am. Little point in complaining to Reception as it appeared to be unmanned. I cannot think of any good reason to ever stay at this hotel again.
