Myself and my partner found this beautifully restored black & white Guesthouse after playing Golf at the Hawkstone Park Golf Club, just a few metres away.
The room was very comfy and the view from the "Hawkstone Bedroom" was delightful, the owners Gino & Lorraine were very welcoming and ensured we had a great stay.
We will be back to stay next year when we return for our annual Golf Tournament, and will be recommending Windmill Cottage Guesthouse to our golfing buddies.

Beautiful accomodation in quiet, rural surroundings near Hawkstone Follies. Lovely bedroom with exposed wooden beams. Clean and comfortable with en-suite facilities. On-site parking was handy.
Although the small bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch, as was the variety of different teabags, we’d have preferred a better breakfast instead. The portions were tiny, and we weren’t offered any more. The food was also generally lacking in taste and seemed like cheap supermarket food, which didn’t fit with the high standard of the accommodation. A rural location like this has excellent local suppliers of fresh, good quality food right on the doorstep - eggs, jams, sausages, bacon, bread, etc. Using local produce doesn't cost much more, yet it supports local producers and tastes better, leaving a lasting good impression. Instead, our final impression of Windmill Cottage was disappointment, as if we’d eaten a rushed breakfast in the canteen of a supermarket. This is a shame, as our stay was otherwise excellent.

Response from shropshireLorraine, Owner at Windmill Cottage Guesthouse
Responded 7 Oct 2012
We have run the bed and breakfast for 15 years and this is the first negative comment about our breakfast. If you watch our u-tube advert on our website the portions you see are exactly what we serve, if you are a hearty eater then all you had to do was say and we would have cooked you extra. Regarding the quality of the food, the meat is bought from an independent butcher and it is unfair to compare us with a supermarket breakfast. We feel we offer good value for money and this is verified by reading what our guests have written in our guestbook. We have taken on board some of your comments and have now sourced some locally made preserves which are delicious, so thank you for that !! Hope you will return in the near future and maybe we will receive a five rating !!

Windmill Cottage Guesthouse has been the nicest guesthouse we have stayed in for a long time, the room itself was lovely and well equipped with a few extra touches here and there. The bathroom and its facilities, like the room, were immaculate. Hopefully one our other friends will get married at Hawkstone Park so we can stay there again!

We stayed here the weekend just gone and really enjoyed our stay, the room was very comfortable and we enjoyed our free bottle of bubbly and chocolates provided by the friendly hosts Gino & Lorraine.
The surrounding area has some beautiful views and we would recommend a visit to the nearby Hawkstone Follies and the Town of Shrewsbury.
The Guesthouse is a beautiful black & white building that is right next to a couple of 18 hole Golf courses which are fantastic to play on.
All in all a great weekend away, I enjoyed it that much that I am writing this the day after returning home.
Highly recommended!

After struggling to find an hotel for the night I was given their No by the landlady of the Aston Lodge in Wem.
It was akin to winning the lottery, absolutely beautiful place, and the icing on the cake is, Lorraine and Gino the host's, a lovely couple, and extremely welcoming.
As Carol and I was heading back to the cottage in the evening from Wem the sun was setting
And bathed the village in an orange glow, picking out the village church and trees in the fields
Making it almost like an autumn scene, a sight to behold, and a memory that will stay with me,
Hence my comment in their guest book " genii loci",
Thank you Lorraine and Gino, all the best Bob n Carol x

My partner and I stayed at the Windmill on 24th August as we were attending a wedding nearby....on arriving our room was ready early which were very grateful so we could get ourselves ready for the wedding. It was spotlessly clean as was everywhere.
The owners are such lovely, warm and friendly people who made us feel so welcome, nothing was too much trouble.
Our lovely kingsize bed was so comfortable we didnt want to get out of it in the morning.
I would highly recommend Windmill Cottage and would give it 100% for cleanliness and hospitality.

We stayed at Windmill Cottage for one night in June 2012. It was booked due to its close proximity to a wedding reception venue.
Excellent breakfast, lovely room and made extra special by them leaving a bottle of wine in our room on arrival. The owners were friendly and welcoming.
Hope to visit again soon.

We stayed here for one night as we were attending a wedding close by in Peplow. From the moment we arrived to leaving, the hosts were so so friendly and welcoming.
The bedroom and ensuite bathroom was spotless, with nice little touches and perfect for what we needed for the 1 night. Breakfast the next morning was great.
Please don't hesitate to book windmill cottage, you will have a lovely stay.

"There are two beautiful parkland golf courses with a club house, a hotel bar and restaurant a couple of hundred yards away where you can get an evening meal ranging from bar snacks to a full three course dinner. Not Haute Cuisine but fine unless you would prefer to drive to nearby Shrewsbury of Wem."Read full review
"We occupied two of the rooms on the fist floor and they were the same as regarding standard , both were quiet ,and a friend occupied the ground floor room which we believe was the same. There is another room on the first floor. You would not be disappointed !"Read full review
