First of all this ryokan has fantastic team as a staff. There is no limit in polite friendliness and hospitality. You will be welcome and made feel special from the greeting onward. Small special details makes the stay private. Check-in lounge is work of art and cup of hot tea while filling the guest form by the fire is the...

The ryokan is situated at the small town Hida just by the side of the river. It is about 30 min drive from Takayama town. The hotel offers excellant hospitality and attention to all fine details making our stay a wonderful time. Our room is perfect, very spacious, clean and comfortable. The outside private tub is another perfect treat. The...

Our one-night stay at Yatsusankan was undoubtedly the highlight of our recent 2-week trip around Japan. From the moment you are led into the private room for checking into the hotel you know that your stay here is going to be special. This is a large ryokan, but despite that, it feels intimate due to the ambiance that it creates....

I have been twice to this traditional Japanese inn (ryokan). Honestly it is better than a 5 star hotel. We were first greeted and taken to a 'welcoming room' where we received hot tea and some sweets. They even cleaned our luggage wheels... Not only is the room huge by Western standards, there are multiple rooms as well as fabulous...

My first impression when I arrived in this Ryokan is a warm friendly Japanese hospitality. When you arrive here, you know you are in a good hand. Everything is taken care of. Its also very peaceful and quiet. The hotel really respect the guests. The onsen in this Ryokan is very nice also. In the outdoor onsen they put flower...

In peaceful Hidafurukawa, this ryokan holds all promises of a high-end yet very traditional inn. The suite with private onsen was huge, spacy and relaxing, the food was great and the services professional and warm.

Away from the touristy Takayama but in a very charming and worth seeing Hidafurukawa town, Yatsusankan offers many of the great things you expect from a high end Ryokan: a beautiful room, perfect service, a very calm setting where you will be able to rest. Two small things that keep it from full marks: the rotenburo (outside bath/hot spring) is...

This is a beautiful traditional ryokan set in the small town of Hida (an approximate 20 minute train ride from Takayama). We stayed in a large room with its own private onsen which looked out over a little garden. The room itself was lovely, traditional but with modern touches (ours had a western bed). The service was impeccable, the staff...

The Ryokan is what a classic countryside Ryokan should be: located in a small town with a view to a shrine, the Ryokan has the look-and-feel you expect it to have. Service is very good, and so is the in-house dining which is served in charming little private dining rooms with a pleasing view to the back garden. Cons: its...
