Due to the fully booked ryokans in Shirakawa-go, we stumbled upon this fantastic hotel via reviews in booking.com and TripAdvisor. No regrets as we felt like we had a given an opportunity to detour to a hilly hidden gem in Hida Furukawa after our half day tour to Shirakawa in the morning via Takayama. The hotel seemed to be ran...

If you're traveling to the Gifu prefecture of Japan to visit the old samurai villages in Shirakawa-go, this is pretty good hotel to stay in. We chose this hotel because all the small hotels in Shirakawa-go were sold out, so upon further research, we chanced upon the Kikori Hotel which is located some 20 min away from the Hida Furukawa...

A 4-5 star ryokan in Hida-furukawa, takes about 30 mins by car from the hida furukawa station. If you don't have a car best arrange pick up by the ryokan, pick up from the station is 4:30pm, there is also a bus in the morning to the station leaving at 9am. Overall a very comfortable ryokan, the onsen is professionally...

Great hotel! Spend our 2014 Christmas day here and the food was scrumptious. The surrounding scenery was splendid and serene. I love this boutique hotel because of their personalized service and warm hospitality. A hotel staff voluntarily led us further down the road to get better scenery for our photo shoot when he saw us taking photos at the entrance...

We were lucky enough to stay in Hotel Kikori for a couple of days in early December 2012 for rest and relaxation. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful; the Japanese meals were top notch - beautifully cooked and presented (the Hida beef was fantastic) We enjoyed the onsen, especially the outside pool with a view of the snow-covered landscape....

Stayed there for 1 night in April 2012, staff is very helpful. Nice room and food with snow view. No problem to communicate in English. They used google translation once to translate information in using hot spring for us.
