Detailed Reviews
The hotel looks a bit old but it's well equipped. I've got a room with open sea view; it's so refreshing. Food is plentiful and staff though speak limited English, they are very helpful and courteous!! The Hotel offered shuttle bus service to Wakura-onsen station. I joined a one-day local tour the following day, they were able to take me to the bus station i.e. the meeting point for the local tour early in the morning.
A special thanks Kusano-san for arranging a good room for me and my mum!

Prior to arriving to Tadaya for my stay which was only for one night, I had been communicating through email with one of the ryokan’s staff, Kusano-san who always provided very detailed replies and information.
Upon checking in he came to meet me personally to help confirm my transport arrangements for my next trip the following day.
It was such a pleasant surprise to find someone such as Kusano-san who is so helpful and spoke perfect English.
The standard room I stayed in was spacious with a nice sea view and the dinner served was also very good.
Overall it was a great short stay over and if you are not sure which establishment to choose in Wakura Onsen, I would gladly recommend giving Tadaya a try.

The original plan is to arrive Wakura Onsen by limited express train at 4:08PM. Due to snow storm , no train service between Fukui City and Kanazawa. Tourist information office staff told us to get on a bus from Fukui City to Komatsu Airport and take Komatsu Airport bus to Kanazawa, then change to regular train (limited express train not running) to Wakura Onsen (presumably arriving at 8:50PM). She is very kind to call Tadaya on our behalf that we would arrive late. Tayada said that it would be too late for formal dinner but will try to get us food.
Upon arrival of Komatsu Airport, the snow storm was so fierce that even the bus ticket vending machines which are installed outside the terminal building had to be covered to avoid damages caused by the snow. Surprisingly, found limited express train started running on arrival of Kanazawa train station. Asked tourist information staff to call Tadaya again so they could pick us up at 8:15PM instead of 8:50PM. There were no more than half a dozen passengers on the train which had probably 6 cars (total 7 passengers got off the train at Wakura Onsen Station
and 6 of them are from our group). Tadaya sent a van to pick us up. The drive to the hotel is approx. 5-6 minutes, and we were rushed into the dining room almost immediately after check-in. The dinner which contained so many courses (food is good particularly the beef) took abt 2 hrs to finish (we fully understand why they don't want to serve the dinner if we arrive the hotel after 9PM). Requested for a late check-out as we checked in so late. Front desk staff refused initially but agreed after a manager standing nearby nodded his head. so we were allowed to check out at 11AM instead of 10AM(actually we left the hotel 10:30AM the next day). The Tatami room is large and comfortable but the bath room looked old and out dated. The onsen is nice but almost could not find the way back to the room. .The view from room is gorgeous especially when the sky is blue and clear. Breakfast is again good and served well. Next visit should probably be scheduled in spring or fall so can spend more time in the hotel and enjoy the beautiful surroundings

OK I want to save anyone who is thinking of staying at Tadaya Ryokan. We stayed there for a night in August and fron the website I was expecting sheer luxury and indulgence. However when we got to the entrance I was in denial that we were in the right place as the reception was so tatty and just not "luxury" at all. The red carpets were even coming unstuck, it also smelt mouldy especially near our room (sorry cant remember number)
The onsen was the only smart bit about the hotel but still for the price we paid I expected a larger outside onsen (its a small rock pool that could probably fit 5 at a squeeze)
The only saving grace for the place is that the food is wonderful as are the staff but unfortunately for me it didnt make up for the quality of the place.

Unfortunately, the hotel has not been properly maintained over time; the golden age of it passed. The staff are helpful and trying to do their best to give the client a good experience. Food is very nice and carefully prepared. The public bath would be so nice if properly maintained.

+1
15mins walk to the centre of Wakura, car parking is free. The hotel is nicely decorated. There are indoor and outdoor onsen, both with great view. There is a little pier in the hotel, view of sunset and in the morning are stunning.

We visited recently and cannot say enough good things about Tadaya. We had 2 room with a rotenburo each (onsen in the room) which was spectacular. Breakfast and dinner were many courses and didn't leave us wanting at all. Marvellous to be able to wander around in a robe and enjoy the onsen right next to the sea. You won't regret a penny extra spent here. Service is amazing.

We arrived Tadaya in a raining evening, the bell service staff helped us to unload the luggage from our car, then he also parking the car for us. Hassle free. The front desk attendant led us to our room and serve us the welcome tea. She then asked for our preferred dinner and breakfast timing. From then onwards, everything was well prepared for us. Don't forget to reserve full course dinner with your booking. It served with local seafood, veg and 'Noto Beef'. Yummy.

A great hotel for relaxation in the area. A little walk from the shops but at the same time with great tranquility. Excellent food and service. Great facilities and do consider staying in a room with onsen bath to enjoy the sunset view.

This was the first ryokan that I have ever visited and the experience was fantastic.
We had a room just off the Japan sea with a private ofuro. The food was served in the room and was excellent. I'd definitely go back. It was snowing, which made the ofuro feel even better!
