If you expect normal resort area, this is not the right place. But if you want to experience Japanese local simple life and scenery at Japan Sea side, this Inn could be a good choice. The Inn is located just in front of the small bay and rather isolated from other villages. It took 20-30 Minutes from Wajima town by car or by bus and you can enjoy nice scenery of repeated cliffs and mountains on the other side. The road is narrow and winding and when you feel how long this will last, you will find under your eyes a narrow road running along the coast and also houses on the other side. Houses are surrounded by dry bush trees that protect from the strong wind carrying salty spray from the sea.(refer to attached photo). This guest house is run by a family who are also living in the same place and they offer us nice fresh sea food.

For sure it is not the easiest place to find but it is worth it! This traditional ryokan is located in a fishermen village 20 min bus from Wajima but just the trip is worth it: beautiful cliffs and the Japan sea on one side and the mountain's forest or rice fields on the other. The beginning was a bit tough as they just speak a few words of English but the family welcoming you is super sweet and will do everything they can to make the best of your stay! The room was spacious, clean and a yukata is waiting for you! The food was exceptional with fresh caught fish and local products that are explained to you and nicely presented. The facilities are a bit old but always clean. If you want a real experience on the Japanese country side, I really recommend it!

It was a little bit hard to find so make sure to have the location on google map, and the address in kanji and hiragana. This was probably the best ryokan that we stayed at. Such attention to details from the cobbled black and white entrance to the lacquered floors, the fresh tatamis and soft lighting in paper shades... The menu was extraordinary with a wide selection of fish and seafood brought to individual dining alcoves by the sweet grand-mother or her younger daughter. I only wished that we had had more time on the Noto peninsula but we had rented a car for 24 hours and needed to get back to Kanazawa. In hindsight we would have like to spend two days in the area. A fun street market is near the inn.
