Stayed here for a night and we loved these things about Goyomon: 1. The host made sure we were all toasty in the deep of winter. Kerosene heaters are placed everywhere, and the entire house is warm and comfortable enough. 2. Our lovely host works tirelessly, cooking washing topping up Kerosene for our heaters etc etc. She was kind and...

The hostess is non stop working. She works day and night and moves swiftly. She is gorgeous. Check in easy. Room bare (Japanese style), traditional kaiseki dinner served on floor and stool tray, Japanese breakfast, magnificent surrounds, great shower and bath, great heater. Room was cold but heater worked a treat. Rooms are divided by sliding doors so every sound...

Ainokura is a kind of Open Air Museum. The good thing about this place is that it is sufficiently remote not to attract too many tourists. This hostel is japanese style. You'll sleep on a futon and toilets and bathroom are shared with other guests. Everything is very clean. You'll be served a japanese breakfast and dinner of very good...

Hostess was Super warm and friendly. Food was decent too. Accom was easily located on the Main Street. Facilities (aircon, washing machine.. Etc) met our needs. Btw, if time, you've got to try the soba and tempura meal at the gift shop/restaurant next to Goyomon. Best we've had during our trip :)

We throughly enjoyed our stay in the Gassho-Style House. If was a great experience especially if your after a authentic tradtional experience. The food was well prepared with alot of variety. Beware for fussy eaters, as this food is tradtional and that's what your paying to experience. We loved it and would recommend this. The host was lovely, she did...

My wife and I visited Ainokura in March 2016 during our honeymoon and truly enjoyed our stay in this lovely Gassho-style house. Our room had tatami and excellent traditional futon beds, and the shared bathroom and toilets were nice and clean. The hostess is absolutely delightful - We were greeted with a cup of warm green tea and local biscuits...

Ainokura is a remote village in the Gokayama region not far from the touristy Shirakawa-go and Gokayama. We came from Kanazawa and had to first take a train to Takaoka, and then a bus to Ainokura. Then from the bus stop, there is a 10mn walk to the village itself. People will know where the Guesthouse is. There is no...

Summary: overbooking errors seem common; friendly hostess; traditional rooms light and noisy; excellent meals; only stay 1 night We spent 2 nights at Goyomon, Ainokura in early January. We had a mixed experience. Upon arrival we were told that the Inn was very busy, and so we were placed in a makeshift room which usually seemed to function as an...

We stayed 2 nights at Goyomon. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed by our first night. When we arrived we were told to put our bags in what looked like a study/storage space. Because of the language barrier, I assumed we were just storing our bags in that room while they were cleaning/preparing our room for us. We ended up...

My husband and I stayed one night in this lovely Gassho-style house. It was a great experience. The hostess is welcoming and helpful. The house is beautiful. The dinner and breakfast were fabulous. There were 10 guests that night and we had great conversation around the firepit. The bathroom is shared but very clean and well stocked with amenities. The...
