We took a chance on this trip because we wanted to see a lot of Costa Rica and didn’t know where we would be from night to night. We got so lucky that they had an opening. This was such a lovely place to stay. We would definitely come back! The staff was very friendly. The accommodations were clean and beautiful. The restaurant was delicious and the views were breathtaking. I wish the mattress were a little less “firm” and yet even saying that this place will hold special memories for me and my husband.

We stayed for 4 nights and had a lovely time. The room was big with air con (which takes a while to get going) and views over the forest and ocean. There's a nice pool and sun loungers and the restaurant is excellent - we had dinner there several times and all the food was superb. Staff are also lovely and really helpful. The only issue for us was location as we didn't have a car and taxis were 25 to 30 dollars one way into Uvita (the nearby town). If you're not driving there might be better options, otherwise this is a great bet. Also Citrus is a great restaurant nearby for dinner!

My wife and I stayed at Alma de Ojochal during the off season in early September a few months ago. I can't say enough good things about the accommodations, friendly/helpful staff and wonderful new owners. We stayed for about a week and couldn't have had a better time. We ate at the Bamboo room most evenings and the food is amazing! We tried different dishes each night and everything was great! The cocktails were on point and the live music was really good! 5 stars all the way, can't wait to go back!

The room was spotless and in perfect condition. The bed was very comfortable. I loved waking up to the beautiful ocean views in this little piece of paradise. Staff was attentive without being intrusive. The property is landscaped with beautiful flowers and trees, the environment is peaceful and serene. The food and atmosphere in the Bamboo Room on Friday night was nothing short of perfect. By far my best stay in Costa Rica, and maybe anywhere. I never wanted to leave and I guarantee I will be back many times.

Superior ocean view, very clean rooms and bathrooms. Heavenly comfortable beds, each room with a veranda you could spend the entire day resting on watching the scarlet macaws fly by, watch toucans roost or the monkeys. Fridge, hot water, coffee maker, sink, nice details. Beautiful pool, well kept grounds, did I mention the ocean view, add an incredible Pacific sunset. Want a satisfying meal with live music while enjoying the sunset? Come on a Friday or Monday at the adjacent family friendly Bamboo Room. A very special experience. Very friendly bi-lingual staff that will help with anything you need. Can’t say enough good things about this paradise in Ojochal. Very well worth the visit.

A beautiful piece of paradise! Stunning views, comfortable bed, well appointed room. The staff were very friendly & helpful, and the owners John & Janet were fantastic! Seeing a sloth a breakfast and monkeys outside the suite was the icing on the cake.

Perfect jewel on a small ridge overlooking the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular. The pool and breakfast area are lovely. We were always the only people in the pool and seldom saw other guests except at breakfast. It is like having your own resort! There are only five rooms so there’s always personal service. The outdoor space in the room had a fridge and sink. When we had a small rock puncture a tire, help was at the ready to help to change the tire. The only challenge is the 15-20 yard entry driveway, so bring your four wheel drive. After that it’s paradise.

This place is great with really nice owners, the views are stunning and the private terraces are a super nice space to sit and have a beer.. I had no expectation of nature but spotted a humming bird in the garden, watched the white faces while eating breakfast. This is the only place where we saw a sloth. Alan is super nice and really happy to show guests what he spots in the trees ❤️

This hotel blew all our expectations out of the water. Beautiful grounds, romantic elegant rooms and lovely staff eager to help and make you feel right at home. The owners, Janet and John are beyond hospitable and were such a pleasure to have around. Alma de Ojochal is perfectly located for everything you could need/want in Costa Rica. Delicious restaurants, exciting activities, beautiful beaches. Whatever your heart desires. The Bamboo Room (the hotel’s restaurant) was closed while we visited but we were able to have a sneak peek and one dinner while we there and it was wonderful. Their chef, Geiner, is so wonderfully genuine and his food is absolutely delicious. You will not be disappointed by this hotel!!
