We had a wonderful room with a private onsen and enjoyed impeccable service and excellent food. Wonderful japanese garden. Yutakas were provided to stroll through the hotel and the village which definitely is worth a visit. Pricy, but it's worth it.

This is the fourth Ryokan I have stayed in and I finally found the perfect experience I was hoping for. There are two Onsen in the Ryokan and one can easily just stay there, however the Ryokan gives you a pass for all the other Onsen in the village and there is a fun atmosphere with all the people walking...

After spending almost 12 straight days in the urban centers of Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka, my wife and I looked forward to visiting Kinosaki. This is a wonderful village with magnificent public onsens. Part of this experience is to stay in a ryokan. The Nishimuraya is the #1 spot in Kinosaki. The accommodations were traditional...tatami floors with private sitting...

I can't remember where I was in Japan - Kyoto, Tokyo, at an airport? - where someone saw my luggage tagged with the Nishimuraya Honkan tag and was so thrilled to learn that I had stayed at what is considered to be the outstanding Kinosaki ryokan. I too consider myself quite privileged to have spent a few days over my...

Incredible experience here, and the best ryokan I have been to out of several in different parts of Japan. Impeccable attention to detail, from the way your shoes are lined up for you in the morning to the delicious kaiseki meal served in your room. Room was perfectly clean. All the on site onsens as well as those in the...

We truly enjoyed our stay at this onsen resort. The staff were friendly, prompt and very helpful. The dinner and breakfast meals were delicious and traditional - food not found outside of Japan nor in Japan's large cities. The town offers a free shuttle around the area and the hotel staff were always willing and able to drive us anywhere...

Nishimuraya Honkan is truly an amazing place. It's far from cheap, but once you'll get there you'll understand why. Our room was towards the back of the hotel, with a very convoluted route to get there. In our room we understood why, each room looks out onto a garden, careful arranged to make sure no-one else can look in. The...

This is actually a delayed review from a March 2014 trip to Kinosaki. Traditional ryokan experience. Amazing experience with exceptional service. Kinosaki is a beautiful rural japanese onsen village and Nishimuraya is the ultimate luxury ryokan. I think we looked slightly ridiculous getting about town with our clogs and yakuta visiting the different onsens but who cares! The onsens in...
