This 300 year-old Mikiya ryokan in the spa village of Kinosaki Onsen was more than a stay, it was a true cultural experience. Our room was an exquisite spartan (and very comfortable) room overlooking the lovely garden with its koi-filled Stream. It has 3 onsen baths (1 for men, 1 for women and a private one for whoever gets there...

Our stay at Mikiya was the absolute highlight of our 7 days in Japan. Everything was curated to perfectiob from the reception to the traditional room to the 8-course dinner. They also have a simple, beautiful bathhouse. The staff and service are unrivaled in the world. So respectful and always at your command. Go here.

I had a great time staying at this ryokan. Kinosaki is famous for crabs, and food served Mikiya was amazing. Their warm hospitality made me feel welcomed. Their onsens had been remodeled, they looked pretty, I really enjoyed them.

This was my second time to Kinosaki, but my first time during the onsen high season (winter), and my first time staying at Mikiya. A group of friends and I decided to shake off the winter blues by splurging on a stay at this wonderful ryokan. Mikiya is beautifully kept, but (as its website clearly states) maintains strong traces of...

Mikiya was everything I could have asked for in a ryokan. The staff member who checked us in and explained our accommodations to us was perfectly fluent in English, which was a great help. The room was cozily traditional and well-heated, with a garden view! The futons were, as my friend and I said, "like sleeping on clouds." We had...

This ryokan, the onsen town and the whole experience of getting here by train is something everyone who really wants to experience authentic japanese culture should visit. The accommodation and meal was amazing, the service is wonderful, the gardens and hot springs within the hotel and beautiful. The detail that Hiro and the team go through with their visitors make...

Our stay at Mikiya was the highlight of our trip to Japan. We loved Kinosaki onsen and were able to experience all 7 baths + the 2 in Mikiya over the 4 days we spent here. Hiro bent over backwards to make sure we were comfortable and happy and had the correct size of yukatas. The breakfasts and dinners were...

Mikiya was the second ryokan experience for my wife and I. We were coming from across the street, Nishimuraya Honkan. We checked out of Nishimuraya and went to Mikiya to drop off our bags so that we can roam the streets of Kinosakionsen free from the weight. They happily kept our bags and would later be already inside our rooms...

This trip to Kinosaki hot spring was a family trip with my parent-in-law. We were delighted by the service provide by Mr. Hero who is a English speaker, native English. He showed us the ryokan, chose the Yukata with us, informed us how to enjoy the hot spring near by. The dinner was served in the restaurant on ground floor....

This is a review I hesitated to write, not because it wasn't one of the greatest experience I had (it was for sure), but because of the complex a person goes through of sharing the good stuff in life, and encouraging price competition. Still, we can't say no to the beauty and hospitality we received. My wife and I enjoyed...
