We recently visited this place with friends. Great place set in a beautiful surrounding.
The outdoor onsen was just breath taking.
We tried the traditional set menu meal. The presentation was impeccable! Every thing was perfect. Compliments to the chef.

Thank you for coming to Yamanogami hot spring Yukaen. Japanese meal kaiseki adhered to local produce is reputed for the meal of the hotel, insistence on the material, cooking method and taste, We have gotten the evaluation from various directions, such as serve. Magnificent surrounding landscape, flowers in the garden and a really wonderful environment. The hot springs are really wonderful quality springs like "toilet waters". We are looking forward to seeing you again in the future. Accommodation manager Ken wakayanagi

Fully refurbished hotel in nice natural surroundings.
Great services: excellent traditional food, professional massage service, shuttle bus from/to Hanamaki, Karaoke (for those interested). But in my opinion, the strongest point are the onsen (two for men and two for women) with rotenburo and smooth alcaline water.
The only small defect: absence of WI-FI

I've visited and stayed at numerous onsens all over Japan over the past quarter century. Yuukaen is one of the best. The natural setting in the middle of the mountains is lovely. A river runs through it and the mountains are densely forested -- they even warn about bears.
The hotel is beautiful (unlike so many other of the larger onsen hotels) as are the rooms. Ours had a spacious tatami room, a side room with two Western beds, a forest viewing room, and a comfortable bathroom. The dinner and breakfast were fabulous.
Most importantly, it has two excellent bath areas, both with outdoor rotemburos.
Could have stayed a week.

Flowers and clear toyosawa River, along the garden is really enjoy relaxing environment. The best season to taste the taste of the season for four seasons, which is to change the menu. In addition, another season of good taste and you can try. Hot Spring Hotel, building and building a shrine is known. It is especially called coffered ceiling and ceiling. When you come next time, so you can get more satisfaction, so long as all the staff. During the busy, really thank you for your contribution. With you and welcome by the staff. This hotel is famous for very old Japanese built style like a temple or shrine. The status of the hotel intermediate , and the meal level is the same level as a general Japanese inn, too. However, The spring quality of the hot spring is alkaline, and is very comfortable and is good for your skin.

Thank you very much for staying with Yamanoko Onsen Yukaen. The room was built with the ceiling high and spacious due to the ceiling construction (folding up) of the Miya Koi construction It is becoming. It takes a long time to build a hot spring ryokan in charge of details. It is said to be a crystal of technology in Japan. The hot spring is very popular with spring water like phlegm water which has ph 9.2. I am fortunate that you seemed to feel it. Going back to basics, I will continue to aim for a spa hotel that I love. Thank you very much for your stay. We are looking forward to seeing you again. Accommodation manager Wakayanagi Ken

Stayed overnight with colleagues. Beautiful rooms (some only futons, some with beds), and a delicious washoku meal for dinner. The only downside was that they only have Kirin beer, which isn't my favourite. They also have two karaoke boxes, which we used after another onsen break. The breakfast buffet was also very good. Service was particularly impressive; many friendly greetings and a driver even stopped and asked me if I needed a ride while I was walking to the parking lot.
There are two onsen, one of which is larger. Both have complimentary bath towels, but no guarantee there will be any left when you get there. They also have some interesting art/decor in them. The larger one was very steamy, and the outdoor bath faces the river, and has a more natural aesthetic. The smaller one has windows so you can see outside and the natural light comes in. It also has a steam sauna in the ladies' (dry sauna in the men's). The outdoor bath is rectangular, and you can see the mountain beyond. I saw a hawk flying around when I was in it. Both baths have umbrellas by the door, so you can enjoy them without worrying about messing up your hair. The outdoor baths are a little cooler than usual (about 40 degrees) so you can really sit and enjoy them for a long time. I recommend trying to visit while there is snow, because it makes the scenery breath taking. You can visit for just the baths as well. 日帰りできます!

Shinhanamaki Staion (bullet train) or Hanamaki (JR) - Shuttle bus - check their web.
The hotel has beautifully refurblished by special skilled carpenters. If you love architecture, this is another reason to stay there. The place is bit remote area. It will be a good place if you would like to relax by spending time with reading books. Hot spring - water quality is exceptional. It is like special beauty liquid. Women would love it. The interior of rooms are just beautiful. It is such an art and Japanese beauty. The food - regional food carefully prepared. Who could not be satisfy with this standard. I went back to stay there after 12 months later as it was such an amazing experience to stay there. If you can afford, go for better quality food package. It is worth it. They really take care of you!

Thank you very much for staying at Yamanokami Onsen Yukaen.I'm very pleased that all the staff received the words of "Happy Satisfaction".The hotel is a building that does not use a single nail and Japanese technology is condensed. The hot spring is a spa quality like lotion with ph 9.2, and the amount of hot water is 1,200 liters per minute. It is really wonderful spring quality and hot water. We will continue to work to become a better hot spring inn.We look forward to the day we can meet again.Thank you for your stay.Accommodation manager Ken Wakayanagi

The quality of the hot springs, the atmosphere of the rooms and the garden are very good and I repeat 5 or 6 times. Unfortunately, however, I have had a bad feeling the last two times. One had scales left in the fish tempura (only for four people to go and one). The other was not served at early check-in and had to wait a long time. It was ignored because I was being served by customers who came later. "It's unfortunate that we only received poor answers on both sides, such as ""We're short on people...""" Please make improvements.

It has a history-like appearance, and the open-air bath where you can take a bath while listening to the murmur of the river is the best. I'm also happy with the dishes that make the chef feel fired up. I think the food is the best. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi was too weak to disconnect. Since LTE is unstable in Sanya, please improve so that Wi-Fi can be used stably even in the building.

It is located in Yamanokami Onsen, the furthest from Hanamaki Station among Hanami Onsen-kyo.
The quality of the spring is alkaline hot spring with a Peher value of 9.6, and the water feels slimy to the touch, but it is not a problem at all when it comes out of the water. There are three large hot springs on the property and all the open-air baths are large.
The ceiling of the building is splendid in the temple carpentry style. The food was reasonably priced and there were no problems.

(Front desk)
You can park your car right in front of the entrance.
After unloading your luggage, you have to park your car in the parking lot yourself.
When you enter the entrance, you will be seated in a chair in the lobby with a luxurious coffered ceiling and will be given an explanation of the hotel.
Drinks and other items will not be served at this time.
There is no drink or snack service in the lounge, which is now common.
The hospitality of the staff was also quite average.
(Guest room)
Japanese-style room with 8 tatami mats + 2 twin beds (118x200cm)
The beds are not too soft and make it difficult to sleep, as is common in hot spring inns, but are firm and good.
There is also a power outlet for smartphones on the bedside, so it is well made.
The Western-style room has an empty refrigerator.
It is difficult to adjust the temperature in the guest room, and the air conditioning is too strong.
The guest rooms also have a luxurious atmosphere with coffered ceilings, but...
There are considerable scratches on the tatami mats and walls in the room, but there are no signs of repairs.
(Dinner and breakfast)
Dinner was served at the restaurant "Hayama" with chairs and tables.
Dinner was a Japanese banquet consisting of about 10 dishes.
It was a typical inn meal, and I got the impression that there was nothing particularly outstanding in terms of taste or quantity.
Breakfast was also served at "Hayama", a Japanese and Western buffet, and there was nothing particularly special or new about it.
(Hot spring baths)
Yukaen's biggest selling point is its four types of hot springs, which are tasteless, odorless, and alkaline with a pH of 9.2.
There are three large baths for men and women, all of which have open-air baths overflowing with thick, skin-beautifying water.
One of these baths also has a sauna, so you can enjoy visiting the hot springs.
However, when I visited, the open-air bath was in the summer, and there were a lot of horseflies, so I gave up.
Yukaen's selling point is the luxurious construction made by carpenters, but as expected, the damage caused by aging is becoming noticeable.
It is becoming difficult for Yukaen to maintain its superiority based solely on the quality of its buildings and hot springs.
Unfortunately, it wasn't a place that made me want to come back again.
