Situated just outside Osaka (40mins), this lovely Ryokan in Amami (near Kawachinogano) was a welcome way to relax at the end of a busy holiday. We arrived to a lovely Japanese welcome and were made to feel at home instantly. The staff continued to be attentive and helpful throughout our stay. Our ground floor room looked out on to the...

Staff was gracious and very helpful. Room size was OK - could've been nicer if it was bigger. Indoor onsen was clean and not crowded. It is literally out of the train station and so it was kinda noisy. It is nothing special but I have nothing really bad to say about it.

We wanted to stay at a ryokan whilst in Japan and this was a very pretty ryokan. However, used to western ways, we were not able to really get into the experience. We found our standard twin room small and a bit stuffy. There was little room to get around once the futons were on the floor and lying on...

The rooms and the building are traditional Japanese. It's an old building, but well maintained. Very friendly service (although it seemed like SO many people were working there??). Japanese breakfast is not my cup of tea, but obviously of good quality. We got unlimited tea in our room and the onsen is open 24h a day! Loved it here.. Very...

My stay in this hotel was just incredible! It was very interesting to experience this traditional japanese Ryokan. I also need to emphasize how amazingly hospitable all of the staff was! I would 100% recommend to stay at Natenen! It is also a very convinient place to stay if you want to go to Koyasan - a day trip from...

To break up our trip a little and to experience a ryokan, we found Nanten-en online and decided to book it. It is a very convenient walk from the railway station and the staff were well versed in English. The grounds were absolutely lovely and the rooms were great too. Dinner was served in the room at the time alloted...

We stayed 1 night at the start of Sakura season. After about 1.5 hour of travelling from Osaka station and walking downhill 3 mins to the ryokan, we were warmly greeted by the ryokan staff. A young man with very good English took us to our rooms and gave a comprehensive overview of the facilities and was most helpful with...

Please experience this type of traditional Japanese ryokan guesthouse. Set in beautiful gardens you are met at the door by almost all the staff. They take your shoes and you wear slippers throughout the hotel. We had breakfast and dinner which were both freshly made and delicious - and totally Japanese so don't expect anything western at all. The rooms...

My wife and I usually stay 1 night at a ryokan per trip to Japan to pamper ourselves with onsen and kaiseki dinner. We chose Nanten-en on basis of its easy accessibility from Osaka via train. Location: Excellent. Nanten-en is 70m (Google map said so) from the Amami train station along the Nankai-Koya line. It's clearly sign-posted from the train...
