We stayed in the plain (owned by the George and just opposite) for 2 nights. We ate at the George both nights and had breakfasts there. The food is outstanding in quality and taste. All the staff work extremely hard to ensure you have a good stay and are cheerful and professional. The rooms were clean and bright. The traffic...

My wife and i stayed here recently and I can thoroughly recommend the George. We stayed in their annexe, called the Plaine which was warm, comfortable and well appointed and just a few steps away from the inn itself. The building had character and history to spare and the bars area really great place to enjoy a drink by the...

The building itself is simply breathtaking. The service is amongst the best i have EVER received, the food (lunch and dinner) was first class, the room was simply beautiful and the staff, who were so very helpful in helping me pull off my 'surprise romantic treat' for my partner we're absolutely perfect....friendly, polite and could not do enough to help...

Lots of character however think a little finesse required. Room cold when we arrived as window wide open. No heating on, bathroom tiny. Not told we'd have to pay extra for breakfast, a particular disappointment as the room itself was expensive. Felt like we'd been hoodwinked when we booked as the extra cost could have been highlighted then. They were...

My wife and I stayed the night for our anniversary and had a lovely evening meal. The character of the building takes your breath away and you really feel like you'very stepped back in time. The staff are very friendly and polite and the food is excellent! The full English breakfast was award winning....we will stay again.

We (me, my wife, family and visitors) have eaten and just had drinks here on many occasions - but never stayed, but I think we ought to soon. This day, having spent most of the afternoon in the Fluer de Lys across the road, my wife, son, and his escort, thought it a good idea to visit the George also...

This Inn is superb, 700 years old, full of character, reputedly the oldest in England, but also really well run. Great pub food at reasonable prices in a setting which should be a film set. In fact, on numerous occasions, it has been. Jenny, who runs the show, does so with calmness and charm. All the staff are excellent and...

On a recent trip visiting family we stopped off at the George and had a very pleasant stay. The building is lovely and oozes history and with a warm open fire in the bar it was perfect after a long drive in the rain. Our double ensuite room was extremely comfortable, large bed, good mattress and dreamy pillows. Bathroom was...

We had planned a Christmas weekend shopping break in Bath, but fancied something a bit different. My girlfriend suggested a weekend stay at the George Inn and got us booked in. Our only gripe with our stay was that one of the reasons we booked was the opportunity to stay in an Inn dating back to the 14th Century. We...

The George is a classic British Inn. It has continuously served ale for seven hundred years. It is situated in the middle of Norton St. Philip a beautiful village in Mendip at the outer edge of the Cotswolds. The hotel is charming and so are the staff. In wintere there are marvellous log fires throughout. In summer one can eat...
