We stayed here during a 1 month tour through Ecuador on an environmental initiative. Our time in Canoa was meant to be a break to catch some surf, cheap eats and slow down a bit. It certainly checked all of those boxes. What we were not expecting was the massive damage to the area from the 2016 earthquake. The town...

Our small tour group stopped here for lunch so I cannot comment on the accommodation although the grounds were very attractive and the price seems right based on the comments of several of the other reviewers. Although we had ordered our meals about an hour in advance of our arrival it still took a while for everybody to be served...

I stayed here in the dorm room which consists of 3 queen size beds and is very spacy. They alsonmake the beds and clean the room every day, which you don't get often for 10 dollars. I was sick for 3 days and the staff brought me tea and other stuff to help me recover! They are very very friendly...

This hotel has been part of the community here in Canoa for over 20 years and do amazing things for the town before and after the earthquake. Life continues on here with WiFi and the regular menu when most hotels are not up to service again. Come see! Rooms as cheap as $10 and camping available. Bring in a bag...

Fortunate enough to spend two nights at Hotel Bambu last week. A hotel hit hard by the earthquake last April, including losing a three storey block with 75% of the accommodation, jos the Dutch owner and his team have overcome this adversity to create a peaceful haven on the beach with a lovely seating out area by the ever open...

We stayed here a few years ago and wanted to visit Canoa again after the earthquake. Re-opened recently, we stayed in the same second-floor cabaña with sea- and river view. The meal we had in the restaurant was very good and Joost a nice host!

This is probably the nicest place left on the beach after the earthquake. I'm really picky about cleanliness and a nice shower at a hotel, and this place made the cut. The owner was very kind and friendly. We definitely enjoyed our stay.

We jumped ship to Hotel Bambu after one night at Amalur and incredibly glad we did. Our room above the river was wonderfully quiet and we saw amazing bird life just sitting on the veranda in the morning & evening. Breakfast was really good there & the daily dinner special was fantastic value & great quality. Our room was kept...

I just saw Yost and his wife in a video. The hotel is closed lots of damage. They have been preparing meals outdoors for the rescue workers. My husband is still in Canoa. Today they had aftershocks of 6.8. I will go to Canoa in July to help with rebuilding and keep you informed about the Hotel situation.

Stayed there last week during the coastal earthquake crissis, Bambu Hotel was one of the few hotels which were not affected, Djoost Berni its owner gave his installation for free to all the volunteers and rescue teams that came to Canoa to help on the emergency. He putted down all of his efforts during the earthquake crissis, on the first...
