Our second visit to Rajakkad in as many years and it again exceeded our expectations. The house itself is a unique refuge nestled in a coffe plantation in the Palani Hills and you feel you are completely in touch with the environment with rooms open to the outside, inner courtyards with water and plants, and surrounded by extraordinary plants and...

Almost completely isolated from the outside world, this unique and beautiful property has eight rooms. There are no locks on the doors, the drains do sometimes smell a bit, there is no TV and the road up to the property is a dirt track. However, I don't think that you will ever find anything else quite like this. The house...

Rajakkad is really special -- everything works to make for a wonderful, peaceful retreat. The house is beautiful, both the bedrooms and the public spaces, and the grounds are fantastic. Highly recommend the 2-3hr hike of the nearby hills and the morning yoga sessions among nature. We feel very lucky that we decided to visit at the last minute --...

For peace, tranquillity and a beautiful setting together with home grown cooking and the warmest of welcomes this can not be beaten. The kindness of the staff too - they can not do enough to make your visit special even when you are travelling with someone who is not well. Lovely walks around the estate and in the nearby village....

We were here with friends mid 2016. Like a few other reviewers have mentioned, the food was terrible!!! Every meal we had was of a very poor quality. There was very little choice of non-vegetarian food and nothing in terms of pastries or desserts. Reason being, they were using some untrained village boys in the kitchen. While we did express...

We spent two blissful nights at this beautiful property. Such a wonderful change from the big hotels found in Indian cities. This property is more a house than a hotel. It is charming and atmospheric - a classic from another era. Taking meals in the garden, waking up to birdsong and no vehicle noise for two days were the highlights...

It is a long drive all the way up to the Rajakkad Estate. Long, winding mountain roads with beautiful scenery, then a gate in the middle of a small village and a couple more minutes up a path. Eventually the car parks by the most beautiful mountain retreat you can imagine. Beautiful Keralan architecture ( The House was dismantled in...

Dear Olivier P, Thank you for your review of Rajakkad Estate. We very much recognise that the luxury of Rajakkad, whilst generous in many ways, has had a couple of important...

Ok. Everything that all other reviewers say about the building and the setting are true. The old palace is aesthetic and intriguing, peppered with exquisite and quirky artefacts of all shapes and sizes. The landscape is stunning and the air clean. But now this is where, I am afraid, I am going to rock the boat or poop the party....

A small garden hotel set in the foothills of India's Western Ghats, Rajakkad offers a sense of serenity and tranquility. Life here has changed very little over the last century. Pallam Palace is the house that sits at the heart of the old Rajakkad plantation. A small garden hotel with 8 unique bedrooms within an 18th century wooden structure that perfectly expresses its rich architectural heritage.
