What a lovely hotel, great value, pleasant and helpful staff . Rooms are spotless - bedroom modern . bathroom a little old fashioned but functional and very clean . Breakfast is fine , though some more fruit would enhance the choice . Location is excellent, beach and beach bar just across the road where good quality and comfortable sun loungers are provided for guests There's nothing not to like about this place

After having visited Italy on many occasions in the past, this was my first trip to the Cilento region. I booked this hotel due to its location and private beach area. Unfortunately I was late arriving at the hotel due to my flight delay, however thankfully there was no problem checking-in.

The reception staff were very pleasant/informative and despite language differences, communication was never a problem throughout my stay. (I have a basic knowledge of the Italian language). The hotel itself is beautifully presented and extremely clean.

My room was a twin-bedded facility (for solo use) and was nicely decorated, well equipped with an extremely efficient and prompt, daily, maid service The dining room is pleasant, overlooking the promenade and the friendly waiter always gave a warm welcome every morning. Breakfast was appetising and the croissants/cake/rolls/cheese/meats etc; were nice and fresh. The cappucino coffee was delicious and extra was provided on request.

The positioning of the Hotel Tirreno, is fabuous. The beach is opposite, across the road and accessible through a beautiful garden area, filled with eucalyptus trees, as well as many other plants and greenery, There are also seating areas with beautiful views of the Sapri coastline and the green hills of the National Park. The beach itself is a mixture of rock/shingle, maybe not the best in the world, though in no way does this impact on the beauty of the town and its location. Also sunbeds and umbrellas, were included in the price, which proved good value over the course of a week The beach is an ideal place to relax and read a book and the sea is crystal clear and beautiful to bathe in. One day I took a trip with 'Mario', whose boat excursions are advertised in the hotel foyer. It was a most enjoyable experience, with a very knowledgeable host, who knows the area and its history well. I went on the half-day excursion, which cruised around the coastline, to the point where the cliffs bordering Campania, Basilicata and Calabria, were displayed in succession together, which was impressive to see.

The local people are friendly in this area and the way of life is relaxed. Sapri is away from the hustle and bustle associated with many holiday resorts, which added to the charm. In addition the weather was beautiful though there was always a slight breeze, which was perfect for me.

There are various restaurants in Sapri, however one in particular, located directly next to the hotel, is 'Sofia's'. The food here is absolutely delicious and well presented. The prices are very reasonable and the quality is first class. I felt confident to eat the seafood dishes,as I believe this lady and her husband have an impeccable reputation in the area for presenting good quality, fresh produce. Also I was made to feel welcome as a single person, dining alone.

On the whole my experience at the Hotel Tirreno was a happy and memorable one. I will certainly return to this region again and when in Sapri, I will, without hesitation, stay at the Hotel Tirreno again.

I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend on St. Valentine's day. The Hotel is located right in front of the sea and from my room window I could admire a splendid view. The rooms are sufficiently furnished but they are not so nice. Breakfast was good enough. At the and of the day, it's worth it....amazing location and low price. Personally, I'm satisfied for the choice but I'm giving three stars rating just for a reason...San Valentine's cake: Horrible!

I loved this hotel and the town. Located across the street from the sea, our balcony provided a view of the sea and hills and mountains on each side. The rooms were spacious and the staff was super friendly. Breakfast was included and we chose to go with the half board and take our meals in the hotels restaurant. Beach chairs and umbrellas were included with the room in the private beach across from the hotel. The town was easily reached by train followed by a 5minute walk to the hotel. We have always spent our summers in Southern Italy but because my husband is now on dialysis we needed to find a town with a dialysis clinic, which was around the corner from the hotel. The lungomare (boardwalk) was perfect for evening walks and people watching. The town's numerous parks and piazzas were great for reading the daily papers and books. There were so many nice shops and the Friday mercato was huge. We stayed for three weeks and after the first week felt at home and even found a group to play buracco( the Italian card game similar to canasta).

This hotel, right across from the beach, is showing its age somewhat, but the rooms are a decent size, the food is fresh and local, and the staff cares about taking care of their clients. I would have liked more lighting in the bathroom, and the fan was pretty loud, but overall it was quite pleasant.

Dear Anthony S, Thank you for you opinion and the time you dedicated to us. I disagree with you about breakfast. On the buffet, every day, you found 4 different hand made and NOT BUYED cakes, croissant, yogurt, corn flakes, fresh fruit, bread, salami and cheese and all tipical italian food for breakfast. The Butter is normal butter for breakfast and we buy it every 3 days. I can't belive it isn't fresh. Maybe you don't know the italian flavour for food. Finally we respect all opinion but it's important to write correctly. Best Regards.

We stopped here for one night travelling between Tropea and Naples. The hotel is a large 1950s block which has been renovated and is a good place for an overnight stop but not very special. Staff were friendly and professional but spoke little English which was a surprise for such a large hotel. The bedroom itself felt a little tired and the a/c was temperamental; the bathroom was very nicely decorated. Breakfast was included which was continental buffet style and well replenished. The hotel has its own private beach across the road with sunbeds and sun umbrellas which was very pleasant.

Although I was perfectly satisfied with my stay here, I have to admit it's about time some refurbishment was carried out. The public areas look old fashioned and inadequate for a 4 star hotel. Our room too could do with a make over, as could the shower room. For WiFi, they still use the antiquated system of little scraps of paper giving a password with a 24 hour validity. The WiFi is poor.

The staff were all extremely pleasant and efficient, especially the breakfast waiter, who made great coffee.

I noted that sea view rooms on higher floors are about 30% more expensive. Maybe in the summer, the trees obscure the view. However, on the first floor, the fumes from passing traffic were really unpleasant. The double glazing muffles the noise quite well.

Dear Mrs PollyBeeLondon, we are pleased that you have been "perfectly satisfied". Maybe you would know that our wifi has a different validity second our guests: 1 day, 3 days (72 hours), 7 days (168 hours). In summer the overprice for the room with sea view is 5% on price. In winter you can choose (without overprice) the room with balcony seafront. Sapri is a little village (6707 people), too few inhabitants for traffic fumes... Best regards

We always stay here because it is perfect for a beautiful view with exceptionally clean rooms and friendly staff. On our last day in Sapri, they let us keep our luggage on site while we spent the day at the beach. Above and beyond.

I stayed at this hotel for several days recently during a long trip to Italy. I had a balcony room, overlooking a small park, directly in from of the water, in the center of town. It was a great room, and very friendly staff, at a great price. I liked it well enough to stay two extra days.
