We went to Agriturismo Baglio Fontana for a wine and oil tasting evening including dinner on Sunday the 28 th May. Me and my wife were totally blown away by the attention given to us and the richness of the food and the experience. We...More
Look hard for Baglio Fontana's Booking Terms & Conditions. They don't appear on their website, nor does their Reservations Office tell one about them when booking. When in early February we booked a 4-night stay for late June to early July, they demanded a pre-paid...More
We did not stay in this Agriturismo, we went for a meal and to be shown a film on the Tuna fishing industry in Sicily and to taste the wine. The buildings were very old and had been in the same family for centuries. We...More
Stay away from this place. Looks great in pics, but falls far short of the expected. We booked for a week - the owner assured us price included use of pool with its outdoor furniture, tennis courts, dining room. When we arrived the pool was...More
Beautiful buildings and rooms decorated and furnished very traditionally with local tiles and paintwork. Interesting antiques on display. Evening meal was okay but not memorable. Ditto with breakfast although the coffee was good. Interesting place to stay but don't expect modern facilities

How easy is to get to Trapani, Erice, Scopello, Egadi Islands (to the place to take a boat) from this hotel? Is it easy to find this Agriturismo and how was GPS working?
Also, there are many negative reviews dating back to 2010 and 2011. Has the property been refurbished since that time?
Thank you very much!

You will need a car to get anywhere. It's not far at all to Erice which is definitely worth the visit - an old walled city with a big castle (bring a sweater as it's up high!). Great views if it's a clear day. The GPS did work, but it took us on a roundabout way to go. Do your homework and know the general direction of where you want to go so you can validate the GPS is sending you in the right direction.
The agriturismo itself is wonderful! You really can't go by reviews from 5 years ago. The amenities are modern (outlets, good showers, etc.). The bed wasn't the most comfortable but that was on par with most of the places we stayed in Sicily/Italy with hard beds. The hosts are wonderful people and there is great history with this agriturismo. Ask them to show you their "museaum". Also, we arranged for a cooking class while there and it was wonderful! The pool is really large and a great place to relax. High recommend this agriturismo!
