Before we arrived for our early January stay, we knew Skye was very expensive and we wondered how we could possibly get our money's worth. We did get our money's worth.
The engineering and design of the facility are fabulous - from the heated floors to the window vents for cold fresh air. We stayed in a two bedroom suite. The living room/kitchen dinning area was beautiful and very comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. Appliances including the washing machine and dryer were fo high quality and easy to use. Prices for wine, snacks, and sandwiches in the deli shop are quite reasonable. Almost everyone of the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The equipment staff were competent and efficient. The shuttle to the main ski center which you had to go to for group lessons ran continually between 8AM and 10AM which meant almost no wait. The rest of the day the shuttle through town ran every 20 minutes. The drug store/convenience store a very short walk down the hill (and right next to the shuttle's first stop) is remarkably stocked with food and reasonably prices wine and liquor. We were very happy with the breakfast buffet. The quality was high and the variety of both western and asian foods was excellent.

We had a very nice modern 2 bedroom suite. The house keeping staff did a great job keeping the room immaculate each day. The buffet breakfast has a huge selection of Japanese and western food. The location can not be beat. It is truly ski in ski out.

The concierge service is beyond outstanding! They arranged transportation to and from the airport, as well as to a couple of restaurants. Our lift tickets were waiting for us at check in. When one CAT operation cancelled on us a month before our arrival, the concierge was able to find us a different CAT ski operation that provided us with a fantastic experience on the day that we had originally reserved. They also arranged the rental of expert level skis and snowboard for back country skiing. The list of restaurants they recommend, on their website, made it easy for us to select and make reservations in advance at a number of excellent restaurants.

Skye Niseko and their fantastic staff made this a very easy trip to plan. If I come back to Niseko there is no question; I will definitely stay at Skye Niseko again.

The moment you step into Skye Niseko, one of the newest and luxurious establishments in Hirafu you know you have made the right decision. I had the privilege of staying in room #801, one of the penthouses called Annupuri West. It’s on the top floor with a great view of the slopes and MT Yotei which you can enjoy while relaxing in your own private onsen to watch the sunrise (definitely recommended!) or unwind after enjoying the best powder Japan can offer.
Each of the 4 bedrooms being an en-suite was also great.
The location of Skye meant you had the option of taking the gondola or the lifts up the mountain, which is definitely an advantage when deciding where you want to ski in the morning.
The restaurant in Skye called Kumo was great too. I enjoyed the Japanese breakfast there, full of Hokkaido's best ingredients!

The property is in a great spot and the ski valet is run very well by helpful and happy staff. The cafe area needs a revamp to make it more cozy, it is not furnished like a ski resort for comfort with couches or a fireside feeling. The major downside, the buffet breakfast is terrible. The options are limited and the "hot" food is presented cold, cold fried eggs and bacon every day for over a week. The toasters are inadequate, why don't you buy a couple of decent commercial ones rather than have your customers line up for a long time. The other food options are often empty for long periods, you run out of plates and cutlery daily and take ages to restock them, table clearing and cleaning is very slow.

We have stayed at Skye Niseko a number of times now and have always enjoyed our stay. The two bedroom suites are spacious and have all the amenities that one would need. If you have a room to choose, stay in one that faces the ski resort as opposed to the parking lot as it is cooler on that side of the building. The wide windows bring in a lot of sunlight and heat.

The best part about staying at this place is that it is well run, and quiet. Although the last few times we have stayed have been during the pandemic, We have not been disappointed by the level of service. As a family of four, with two teenage kids, there has been enough space for all of us to spread out. We would definitely recommend this place.

Location is very important when choosing a ski vacation. I think it can make or break your experience. Skye elevates it.

When discussing skiing and accommodations in Niseko, it's really about Hirafu. Hirafu has the best lift system of all four resorts making up Niseko United; the fastest lift access to the peak gates, the best lift access to the other resorts, and the best in-resort off-piste skiing options. Hirafu is also where all the shops and restaurants are. Hirafu is Niseko. It's a fact. And Skye has the best location in Hirafu. In other words, Skye has the best location in all of Niseko.

We stayed in one of the four penthouse suites, Annupuri West (#801). We felt doubly lucky, as what makes this suite stand out is its unobstructed views of both Mt. Yotei as well as the slopes of Hirafu. Imagine soaking in the private rotenburo (outdoor onsen) on the terrace after a full powderful day, sipping champagne and taking in the majestic Yotei sunset view. We did exactly that, and it was both relaxing and awesome! The terrace is an Instagram spot like no other for those so inclined.

The inside is spacious with the open living/dining area maxed out and designed so that people who want to watch TV can do so while others who prefer hanging out can do that in another section. If you need a little space to do your own work, you can do that too without going back to your own room. Besides two sinks, one wine fridge, and all the equipment and appliances you could think of, what I really liked about the kitchen was that it had a wide selection of glasses; those for Bordeaux, for Burgundy, champagne flutes, high-balls and whiskey tumblers, and in many quantities.

My friends and I had an amazing time in Niseko and Skye was a big part of that. I can't wait to go back next year.

Of the many years of Christmas spent in Niseko, Skye has provided the most relaxing and enjoyable stay for the holiday season. This service has been impeccable, the concierge catering to all of our needs and went beyond what was expected. The only improvement I can see is in the in-house restaurant Kumo. I think the menu can be improved to add pork katsu curry, tempura, or fondu hotpots. Otherwise, 5 star and beyond! The views from the rooms are the best in Niseko Hirafu.

This was my first time snowboarding and Skye were excellent in arranging everything and have shops on site in case you are missing a few things (I was).

It is just an elevator button away from the slopes making it effortless to get on the snow.

Food in the restaurant was awesome and everyone was very friendly. Definitely would stay again!

One of the nicest and poshest place to stay for a ski holiday in Grand Hirafu, Niseko. Really super polite staffing team and excellent service. Would have given 5 stars but unfortunately the cold gyoza (inside filling) sort of cost Skye their full marks. Staff did make up for the very very persistent apologies. Can’t really complain about the stay except that it can get a tad warm which was an easy fix by opening the small window. Unfortunately early in the season meant that the gondola side was not open hence the direct access to the ski slopes is limited to a short walk across the road the Ace chair lifts. Food options are limited as Kumo’s menu is somewhat limited. Please make reservations for dinner elsewhere as even early season the restaurants get super full as well.

Skye can be considered furthest away from the main food area, Middle Hirafu but the shuttle bus which loops around every 20 minutes really help. Ski Valet service and rental options are top notch. The Ski Valet service was a first for me which was a really pleasant and great experience, every thing from helping me get out of my pesky ski boots at the end of the day, drying and storing my boots and skis for the next day made this trip that little bit more posh.

The private onsen options was also a very pleasant addition. Just chillng in my own space at the end of a tiring day on the slopes was just great. Will come again and would recommend Skye to anyone who asks.

We stay at Skye for 8 nights during Christmas and once again enjoyed it very much. The new management team has taken the quality of services to a new level. Kudos!! We really like the convenience of the ski valet and overall, there are noticeable improvements in many areas in the hotel with the new team. My 3 years old daughter loved the public and private onshore a lot and we had a couple of lunches at Kumo. We very much enjoyed the well equipped kitchen in the room as we cooked and stay in most of the evenings. Given that we stay in Skye during the peak season, I am very impressed with their staff’s attitude and helpfulness. Thank you for making our holiday a memorable one.

Hi Kamz77, There are 5 penthouses on the top floor of Skye Niseko and all have onsen and fire pits on the expansive external balconies. You can find more information on the penthouses on Skye Niseko's website which unfortunately I cannot link here due to TripAdvisor's posting policy.

Good evening. You can ski from the ski valet across to the mountain centre, it does involve a short skate on the skis but is accessible for everyone except perhaps first timer skiers. Snowboarders probably need to unclip for a short while. Ski in access is possible from either side of the hotel. Kind regards, Chris
