Quite a few negative reviews but provided you understand that you are paying 3 star prices and don’t expect a 5 star hotel, you will be fine. Our Ocean view room was large with two double beds, a safe, large TV ( didn’t use it) and efficient and quiet air conditioning. The main pool isn’t huge but never crowded despite the hotel being at full capacity for at least part of our holiday. It also features the swim up bar! There is another pool which, in parts has a depth of 8m. The food has been the subject of much comment in reviews and I would agree that lunch in particular is repetitive. Breakfast is good, egg orders taken when you arrive and delivered to your table. They are cooked to order and take a little time but, relax, you are on your holidays! The Caribbean buffet breakfast has some interesting offerings!! Not everyone will like everything on offer but you will not go hungry that’s for sure. The staff are warm and welcoming, something that was repeated when we went out and about. Everyone we met was polite and personable, even the street vendors who ask if you want a boat trip etc. Just say no thank you and they wish you a good day and move on. They were never pushy. If you don’t look for problems, accept where you are, you will have a great time. Happy to answer any questions

We arrived at the Tropikist with some trepidation after reading some of the previous reviews. I agree that the rooms are a little tired, however, our Ocean View was clean and comfortable with loads of room to stow our holiday gear. The towels in our room were new and there was no issue whatsoever with the pool towels. Yes, we sometimes had to wait for drinks at the bar as everyone moves in Tobago time and yes, they occasionally ran out of some drinks but the staff were very friendly and we didn’t have an issue with trying alternatives! Store Bay beach is just up the road, a short stroll from the hotel and the airport is a five minute stroll in the other direction so no worries about missing the flight home. There was also no issue with noise from the airport considering the hotel’s proximity as there aren’t a huge number of flights in and out. We had an amazing time on the island, the people are very friendly and we felt safe. I’d have no hesitation in staying in Tobago and at the Tropikist again.

went with my family to tropikist beach hotel, the hotel is lovely and has a beautiful lazy pool and jetty on the sea where you can fish. the bedrooms are quite comfortable along with the food being really nice. would recommend to anyone to have a stay while in Tobago met the beautiful operations manager Sofia, really nice person like the rest of the staff there. definitely try once in Tobago you won't regret it

Remember that this is a 3 star hotel, don't expect Barbados 5 star experience for this money. That said, we had a great time here. The staff are a real credit to the hotel, especially Rose, who is the perfect liaison, friendly, knowledgable and available without being overbearing. The bar staff Donell and Anthony are brilliant, we had a great laugh with them, a big plus for our holiday here. Thanks guys. The food is disappointing, we would have loved to have seen a greater variety of dishes served, especially local dishes (doubles, pie, roti, etc). The island is absolutely heaving with fresh fruit on all the trees, but none of this deliciousness (Mangoes, Passionfruit, Guava, star fruit, etc) made it to the restaurant. Would have made breakfast a lot more varied and interesting. The beach at the hotel is not great, however there are superb beaches a short walk or cab ride away. The pool is nice, but the loungers could do with some cushions, and there are not enough umbrellas to go around, and we were here in the off season. I was concerned about noise from the airport, but this really was a non issue, we hardly heard anything apart from the occasional Chopper taking off. Don't worry about this if you're concerned like I was. The hotel itself is clean, but tired. Everything works (just about) and we had no issues. Nice to have a safe in the room too. Would we come back to stay at Tropikist? Absolutely we would. The manager here is lovely, couldn't do enough to help us out, and he's not been in the role for very long, we're confident that he can turn around any less than positive issues we encountered. Thanks again!

We booked this due to being a great price for an island we had never been to and not very popular so unsure what to expect based on reviews. Firstly beautiful grounds, pool, waterfall and jacuzzi. Our room top floor very large and good size bathroom though dated still great. Huge bed mini bar few essentials included, Flat screen with tv box. The location is a bonus 5 minutes from airport no real noise as small and not busy. Very friendly pleasant staff, if you are too. The manager Narendra was very attentive and pleasing even added a special touch of decorating our room for our anniversary, thank you. Remember it is 3 star not 5 and half the price so food and drink were good but limited. If you are fussy eater I'm sure they will prepare off menu. I found it good and tried most things my wife found alot had too much sauce batter or spices. Bar does close at 10 but if we wanted a couple more order early to sit later. Walking distance to excellent beach " store point" around £10 for 2 beds with brolly from "Dimples" bars and stalls close by. 3 stop boat trip around £20 brilliant. Pigeon point park beautiful too on beach 40 minute walk which we enjoyed or taxis cheap too. Many cars pass and beep apparently jump in get dropped off safely too around 20tts / £2.50. Recommend changing us dollars before going and change there in bank or use atm. We hired a brand new jeep from sheppys also walking distance 10 minutes £50 drove around whole island beautiful views and beaches but some parts of the roads treacherous and we thought lost but just the way they are lol. You can book a tour £100 each with lunch might be better via Wayne and hotel. We also booked horse riding at Friendship Stables looked very basic off putting but amazing trek through forest to beach £45 ish each get taxi there abd back. We walked though. Overall would we stay / visit again? Yes to hotel and island! Thanks to all we ll be back.

Firstly this is NOT a five star hotel so don’t expect 5 star quality – it is a perfectly lovely 3 star hotel with a team of staff who are dedicated to ensuring that you enjoy your stay. The hotel is cozy and compact, its grounds are beautifully kept and you feel at home here. First impressions when you arrive are not great as the front of the hotel is pretty basic but each day the hotel grows on you. The room we were allocated had the most beautiful view over the ocean, was clean, a little tired but it was large, roomy and had all of the facilities needed, enough wardrobe space, iron, ironing board, coffee maker, fridge, hairdryer (at request of reception). The restaurant is located overlooking the ocean. When you arrive for breakfast your “egg” orders are taken and you are provided with a number to place on your table so the staff can deliver your eggs/omelette etc - a great idea! The food for dinner can be quite repetitious but we did not go hungry and the ice cream is to die for ! Lunch is normally served in the bar area. There is a stunning top deck, just above the bar area, overlooking the ocean where you can enjoy a drink, watch the sunset and if lucky like we were spot some dolphins ! The beach is only small and not really safe for swimming but there are cabanas available, at no charge, where you can retreat to if you do not want to lay by the pool. The hotel lay on extra events, at no cost, such as fishing off the jetty, supervised walks to show you the local area …. Narendra the General Manager made our stay very special, not only did he take us on an early morning walk, he is passionately building the hotel up again after the difficulties of the pandemic and in a sustainable way (they grow most of their own vegetables, use re-fillable water bottles) …. Entertainment is provided most evenings, sax player, singer, local dance troop …. The bar closes at 10pm which l thought would be a problem but it wasn’t …. If you want to drink later into the evening just order a couple of drinks before they close ……. Donnell with his wonderful dreadlocks served up some amazing cocktails and also taught us all how to fish from the jetty – not an easy task ! Nicole the manageress at the restaurant always welcomed you with a smile ! The hotel is in a great location as it is within walking distance of Store Bay, Swallow Beach and Pigeon Point – all of these 3 beaches are worth a visit, especially Pigeon Point where a charge of TT$20 per person (£2.50) is required to enter the Heritage Site BUT well worth the cost as this provides for a sunbed and sunshade for the day. There is also a great restaurant for lunch which is reasonably priced. My stay at the Tropikist was the most restful holiday l have ever had – l will definitely be back ! Thank you Narendra and team for looking after us all so well !

Spacious room although a bit dated, ok for a 3 star i guess. Lovely pool and gardens. But the food and drink really does let this place down. The food is just terrible, and the same limited choices at every meal. Everything is overcooked. And sadly there are no restraunts nearby for a bit of respite. As for the drinks, they serve the cheapest rubbish beer, vodka tasted like petrol and all the cocktails are pre mixed syrups.....not a fresh fruit in sight.

This hotel is in a great location and both store bay and pigeon point are in walking distance, albeit the later is a good walk. The grounds of the hotel are gorgeous and well maintained and the room whilst a bit tired basic was spacious clean with a comfortable bed. The sea view room was a delight to wake up to. The food was a bit sameish and I'd like to have seen more variety of local foods on the menu that being said the staff were friendly and nothing was to much for Nicole & Jabari. We enjoyed a fabulous walk with Nahendra and it was a pleasure to see his enthusiasm for both the island and his hopes for the hotel in the future. Donnell looked after us well at the bar and tried his best to show us how to fish which whilst unsuccessful was great fun. I'd love to go back next year and see the progress made.

I guess it depends on one's yardstick as to how one would review this hotel, but one can only speak for oneself & would disagree with some of the previous raving reviews. The pool & grounds are really nice & very well maintained. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a 3rd floor, deluxe junior suite, overlooking the pool & sea, which was extremely spacious but very sparse. There were 2 large beds, one chair, a fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, safe, iron & hairdryer & some cupboards. The wardrobe is in the bathroom. The bathroom was large, soap/shower gel provided. There was a balcony with 2 chairs & a small table. The room was serviced each day but the bed linen wasn't changed all week. We were able to request clean towels. Beach towels are provided (have to be signed in & out). We weren't able have a late checkout (our flight was 19:10), but were able to use the shower facilities in room 101 - goodness is was grim & if we'd had to stay a week in there, we would have been looking for alternative accommodation. There bar service is a bit hit & miss as there was usually only one person on duty, so if they had popped out (which they frequently did), there was no service. It was busy at the weekend but during the week it was quiet & closed at 10pm. There was entertainment over dinner each night, for about an hour. There is a small beach but swimming is not allowed. Store Bay, which is a really nice, small beach with beds & umbrellas available for rent, is only a 10 minute walk away. The food really lets the hotel down, in my opinion. We were there for a week on an AI basis & were totally fed up with the same old, same old by the end of the week. In fact, lunch is the same menu of about 4 choices every day. The catering managers are very professional, helpful & have very good customer service skills but as for the rest of the staff, they leave much to be desired. Not many smile & we really felt some basic training in customer service wouldn't go amiss. The reception staff are generally helpful, but once again, customer service training wouldn't go amiss. I'd go back to Tobago in a heartbeat, but would I stay at Tropikist? No.
