We went on a family weekend getaway and the hotel staff was exceptional in their service. Extremely friendly and attentive to our needs from the moment we checked in till the day we checked out. There was 13 of us, ages ranging from 9 to 71 and everyone was able to relax and enjoy the privacy the hotel provided. Clean and spacious rooms.

Hotel's Favourite
It’s not perfect but we love it!! Back for our 6th visit (1st since Covid) and we will definitely be returning! Without doubt the beach and the friendly staff are the two biggest assets, the reef creates such a safe place to swim and relax, spent many happy hours floating around here! The beach is cleaned and swept every day! The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble, any requests for menu deviations sorted! The choice of food isn’t as varied as in the past, however, this has to be down to post Covid numbers and trying to rebuild the islands tourism! What we had was very good, well presented and nicely cooked. Also plenty of local bars & restaurants nearby. The hotel is a little jaded or shabby chic!! Investment needed! But the rooms are a good size, clean and air conditioned. Since our last visit in 2019 the Wi-Fi has been boosted (no running down to reception to send an email😀). Would recommend sea view room. The airport is only a 3 minute drive so getting one of the plentiful taxis is way cheaper than paying for airport transfers! We have hired a car (book through the hotel reception, cheaper than all the other local car hire sites and delivered to the door) and driven round the island. Make sure you visit Charlottesville, Parlatouvier, Castara and Buccoo! Our thanks again to all the staff including Jenelle, Tracey, Patrice, Marissa, Marrissia, Elizabeth, Keishelle, Melissa, Preston, Navla and Beverly who helped make it a special trip.

We had an incredible two week stay at the Coco-Reef Hotel and Spa. We received refreshing welcome drinks on arrival and a personal greeting from the Hotel owner and Elizabeth, and once we were ready, we were shown to our room. Our room was cleaned everyday, and fresh towels replaced whenever we requested them, and beach towels were available to use if you asked at reception. The hotel grounds, the views from the restaurant of the sea and from the main lobby were stunning and the sunsets on the beach were amazing to watch. The best thing about this hotel was the authenticity and feel of true Caribbean vibes – you can truly lime here! The hotel staff were all extremely pleasant and polite and attentive - nothing was too much trouble. We were on an all inclusive plan and the staff soon remembered our room number and drink preferences. Room check out is at 12pm but all-inclusive does not end until 3pm which is great value and means you can spend your last day on the beach in the morning and then can enjoy lunch and drinks in the afternoon at the beach bar. The cocktails were amazing and there was lots of choice. We were even served drinks to our sunbeds and offered complimentary fruit slushie drinks and fresh fruit whilst relaxing on the beach – the true VIP experience. We were lucky enough to be staying at the hotel when they were celebrating Mother’s Day and it was a wonderful experience being able to join in with the special buffet lunch event the hotel was hosting, there was live music and roses were given to all female guests. A unique selling point of this hotel is the sea pool which is crystal clear and where you could see lots of fish by just paddling. You can also go snorkelling by the rock breakwater and see so much marine life and coral is starting to grow on the sea side of the breakwater and this needs to be protected. The hotel dive shop has snorkelling equipment so if you want to save room in your suitcase you don’t need to bring your own. The beach was swept and cleaned each morning and there were lots of palm trees which were excellent for shade from the sun. We asked hotel reception if they could add us to the list for Turtle Watching and were lucky enough to be woken up one evening to see a turtle laying their eggs one night at Turtle Beach and it was a magical experience. The Social Director, Janelle was so helpful and was available to help us book tours and excursions and kindly let us borrow some bird watching books. We really enjoyed the buffet/BBQ evening meals at the beach bar every Wednesday and Saturday and the Managers cocktail hour on the Wednesday which were special touches and a change of scenery from the main evening restaurant dinners. On Friday, Saturday and Wednesday night the hotel put on an entertainer that was very good at getting everyone involved. The Hotel staff joined in which was lovely to see and special thanks to Tracy for teaching us the electric slide dance! Breakfast had plenty of variety and there was an egg station so you could have fresh omelettes or poached eggs etc. The food was 5 stars and the food plates were warmed to keep your food hot and every evening we were served a bread roll and the option of a three course meal al a carte. The hotel required some TLC in places, mainly a lick of paint and the beach bar decking and an odd few tiles to be replaced/secured for safety. The hotel is fully aware of this and has recently changed ownership and action is already being taken to improve the hotel and painting touch ups were occurring when we were staying there – they are currently focusing on the main entrance which makes sense as this is the first impressions of the hotel. A few recommendations for improvements, to make this hotel even better, would be to have more tables for the sunbeds on the beach and to look into hosting entertainment every evening as we enjoyed this very much. The hotel should continue to organise special day events as they make the experience extra special for the guests to join in with the culture and celebrations. Another recommendation would be to clean the pool more frequently as it is surrounded by vegetation so leaves and insects get into the water very easily and if cleaned more often would be more inviting for guests to swim. We would definitely stay at this hotel again. We were sad to leave but had such a fantastic time and even received hugs goodbye from members of staff on our last day. Thank you so much Coco Reef Tom and Steph

The hotel and amenities wasn’t bad. The hotel is huge and the rooms were nice. The biggest selling point was the small beach area in front where you can swim 24/7. The hotel needs some maintenance work - taps not 100%, hot water not 100% etc. But very friendly and helpful staff. Booking off peak and in advance, the deals are great and worth it. Not sure if I’ll pay full price however. As someone else had said, when this now opened, it probably was a fantastic place!

Dear RyanR0184, In a first instance, I would like to take this opportunity to express to you my gratitude for having taken both the time & the trouble of sharing with us your recent experience having stayed at "Coco Reef Resort & Spa" in Tobago, which is truly much appreciated. We are extremely pleased to learn, that you, particularly, enjoyed your room and even more so, our unique location affording a private lagoon, where one can swim every day of the year, to one's fullest enjoyment. In the meantime, as a matter of update, bearing in mind, that I only arrived here at “Coco Reef Resort & Spa” some 8 weeks ago , we have undertaken a lot of “repainting” of many of the central facilities, as well as having erected a “Volleyball Court” on our Coco Bay Beach and equally, repainted both of our jetties. In addition, thereto, we have just started installing a dedicated small “Kids Club”, which will be opened, in about 5 weeks, time with the understanding, that this facility will be free of charge, to children between the age of 3-10 years old and open daily from 10.00am – 5.00pm. Furthermore, new linen, towels and beach towels have already been ordered and should be with us on-site in about 5 weeks, as they originate from overseas. Meanwhile, the necessary steps have been taken to enhance our Breakfast Menu, as well as put in place a new Lunch Menu and gradually, changing our Dinner Menu, for the benefit of our esteemed guests. Likewise, some 60 “new” beach lounges are presently being shipped to us , as well as “new non- motorized” watersports equipment. Please note, that the aforementioned, only constitutes the first phase of more “upgrades and renovations” to follow. Meanwhile, please rest assured, that due note has been taken of the problem that you encountered with the hot water in your specific room and to this effect, please kindly note, that our Engineering team has done the needful to remedy the same. For the purpose of total transparency, it would only be opportune to mention, that “ Coco Reef Resort & Spa” is undeniably a “ Grand Dame”, which is gradually being rejuvenated to her full glory. Once again, I wish to thank you for your valuable feedback which will, undeniably, enable us to further enhance our services and facilities for the benefit and comfort of our esteemed guests. Looking forward to the pleasure and privilege of hopefully, welcoming you back amidst us in the future. Best personal regards. Paul van Frank General Manager

Spent a wonderful time at Coco Reef & would certainly return. Food was very good & staff throughout the hotel were amazing, they are surely the hotels biggest asset. Room was good, very clean & spacious, if I had one wish it would have been for a more powerful shower but that is being picky. Plenty of sunbeds, with good snorkeling in & outside the bay. Thank you one again to everyone.

We had so much fun staying here for two weeks! There are so many positives it’s difficult knowing where to begin. Check in was speedy and a welcome drink was most welcome! Throughout our stay the staff were extremely friendly and quickly learned our room number and our preferences. Our sea view room was a good size and had plenty of storage space. The balcony faced west so we had beautiful sunset views. The decor was from a previous era but that added to the charm of the resort. Soap, shampoo and body lotion were provided. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Never experienced a blanket next to our bodies instead of a sheet, but we swapped it round ourselves and it stayed that way, We were on the All Inclusive plan and we’re impressed by the quality of the meals and cocktails. To add variety to the evenings, meals were served in the Tamara’s restaurant for five meals a week and on Wednesdays and Saturdays dinner was served in the downstairs restaurant and bar ‘Bachanalls’. Wednesday was the Managers Cocktail Party and buffet and it gave a chance for guests to mingle and to to meet all the staff. Special praise to Paul the manager for being such an excellent host! Music was provided on these two evenings and also on Friday evenings when it was happy hour. The male vocalist (Andy?)was absolutely brilliant, not just at singing but for getting guests up and dancing and joining in with the singing. Such fun!!! Saturday's evening meal was a barbeque. On Mothers Day the resort provided a lovely Sunday lunch and all mums were presented with a red rose. Once again, Andy provided the entertainment and it was such good fun. It was great to see so many of the staff joining in with the singing and dancing as well. The resort has is nice Sandy beach with plenty of palm trees and an enclosed lagoon. While we stayed there were plenty of sun beds and the trees provided a good mix of sun and shade. Last but not least the WiFi was fast and had good coverage throughout the whole resort. The resort has a dive shop on the beach, Undersea Tobago. An excellent dive shop for divers of all levels of expertise and experience or those wanting to try it for the first time. If you’d like to see under the sea then look at my YouTube video ‘Come Dive with me in Tobago’.

Just got back from a lovely week at Coco Reef. They are trying very hard to get the resort back to normal after being shut for COVID. The good: Room dated but very clean with excellent linens, comfortable bed, lovely towels and cleaned every day. Breakfast - outstanding, with a great egg Station, excellent choices for cooked meats (bacon, sausages etc). Plenty of fruit and fresh baking every day. Lunch - excellent, highly recommend the prawn cocktail and the prawn and apple wrap. Dinner - very tasty but the same menu every night and for seven days the ‘catch of the day’ was always Dorado. More variety required and maybe a local choice every night? The private lagoon, absolutely stunning! The staff - without doubt the best and so lovely and helpful, always smiling without exception. Felt very safe. The trying: The resort is currently being painted to try and remove the dated look. Two issues with my room (the safe not working and the air con running hot) we’re both fixed within 15 mins of arrival. The not so good: Water pressure is terrible making it really difficult to get hair rinsed properly. The fixtures and fittings in the bathroom. The bathrooms need a total update, the tub is old and small the over bath shower very poor, no adjustment to the height. Tiles from the 1960’s. The patio doors in the rooms need better security The sun beds - poor but mostly serviceable and apparently new ones are on order. The decking on the outside restaurant is warped and broken in places, felt unsafe and a trip hazard. There are many steps all over the resort and no beach access without steps. The smell when walking through the shops - not nice at all. The pool - not clean, green stuff very evident. I did not go in, felt like a health hazard. This hotel should not be turned into a soulless chrome and glass monstrosity and should retain a Caribbean charm but does need updating in the public areas as well as room renovations. Is it worth the rack rate of $350 per night? Questionable. Would I go again? In a heartbeat - mostly because of the wonderful staff and the beautiful lagoon. The week I was there the occupancy rate was 19% so it was quiet which quite honestly suited me. Currently not 5* more like 3* but has the potential to be great again. Please support this hotel and others on this beautiful unspoiled Island - the real Caribbean. Two BA flights per week and one from the US is not enough to support the tourism industry. Virgin cut out their twice weekly flights in December 2022 which has devastated numbers coming in. Give it a chance, please? Tobago is charming and beautiful and compared to some other Islands very safe.

Dear Aliciacats, Firstly, I truly appreciate the time you have taken to share with us your comments following your recent stay at "Coco Reef Resort & Spa" in Tobago. On an opening note, I was most pleased to learn, that from an overall point of view, you found this experience to be of a most positive nature, for which I am most thankful. In this regard, I am indebted to you for having kindly shared with us your particular satisfaction with the room you stayed in as well as our private beach offering our esteemed guests the quietness and peaceful environment they are so often seeking when staying with us. With regards to your Culinary experience, I am thankful to you for your comments referring to our breakfast buffet and our new lunch menu, which was visibly much to your liking. As to the dining experience I feel it only , appropriate to share with you, that in the meantime I have, personally, been reviewing our dining menu offered in our "Tamara Restaurant" and to this effect, we are now systematically introducing, on a regular basis new exciting dishes. precisely, with a view to offering our most discerning guests, a wider variety of choice, when dining with us. Indeed, since arriving some 8 weeks ago, we have put in place a whole new painting schedule, in order to bring this "Grand Dame" back to her former glory. By the same token, for your info, brand new beach lounges have been ordered and should be on site within the next 3 - 4 weeks along with new non-motorized watersports equipment. In respect of your comments regarding the issues encountered with both your in-room safe and the air-conditioning in your room, as you will, undoubtedly, appreciate such issues can occur and in this case, our maintenance team did the needful to rectify the same within a minimum amount of time. As to the problem experienced with the water pressure in your room, as a matter of update, this is being thoroughly investigated, as, indeed, we need to resolve this matter soonest in the room that you were allocated. Equally, meanwhile, our Chief Engineer has rectified the security issue with the sliding door in this same room, for the comfort of our esteemed guests, especially, as the security of our guests is of paramount importance to us. As to the bad odor, that you mentioned to have witnessed in the Galleria corridor, this has already been addressed. With regards to the maintenance of our main swimming pool, I am extremely sorry, if you did not find it to be to your entire satisfaction, even though, in actual fact we have a dedicated pool technician who is, specifically, in charge of carrying out the daily maintenance of this pool, so as to meet the required standards expected at all times. As previously alluded to we are presently in the process of gradually renovating this unique Resort and in this respect, due note has been taken of the need to renovate the timber decking in our "Bacchanal Beach" Restaurant. Please accept my sincere apologies for any discomfort felt, as a result thereof. On a completely different note, at this point in time, it is correct that the airlift from the UK to Tobago is limited and to counter the same, all of us Hoteliers are effortlessly working together with the Tourism Board to improve this situation going forward. Once again, I wish to express to your my gratitude for having taken the time and the trouble of sharing with us your valued feedback. Hopefully, we will have the honor and the pleasure of welcoming you back again with us in the future. Remaining always at your service! Best personal regards. Paul van Frank General Manager
