We chose The Trout due to its reputation of good food ...Well how disappointed were we! The service upon arrival was poor, on a hot Sunday afternoon after travelling we had to wait to check in as I presume the owner was the only person front of house, and she was also serving at the bar. The room itself was...

My sister and I stayed at The Trout three weeks ago. The room was tastefully furnished, well appointed, clean and amenities supplied. Bed very comfortable. Room quiet. I requested additional towels, these were supplied immediately. We had dinners both the two evenings we stayed. Each time excellent food and attentive service. All food requests accommodated (I eat no diary). Breakfast...

My husband and I stayed with two friends over the May Day bank holiday as part of my 50th Birthday celebrations. My husband had arranged for flowers and champagne to be placed in the room and this part was carried out well. The exchange prior to our visit was professional, helpful and friendly. However, with the exception of breakfast and...

The Trout is a nice pub, the staff and management are also nice. Having been a fairly frequent customer for a number of years, I am disappointed that the last year or so has been characterized by decline in quality and an increase in price. On the menu last night was tomato and mozzarella salad for £ 5.95. It consisted...

We stayed for a couple of nights over may bank holiday for a birthday getaway, short hotel breaks are not something we have done much of but we would certainly come to The Trout again. Yes it's not cheap, but the staff are welcoming, the room was lovely..(although it could do with a re-dec it was fine),and the food was excellent. Particularly fine...

After reading much about the Trout Inn (Sawdays etc), we decided to stay for a couple of nights to experience what we hoped to be would be a high quality, relaxing weekend with good food and fine wine and local ales. Unfortunately, our experience was not what we envisaged. So, what was the problem? 1. Expensive. The rooms rates for...

We stayed here for my birthday - one night including dinner. We picked it after finding it in one of the Sawday books, and also because (unusually in the Cotswolds) the owners were prepared to be flexible and let us stay for just one night at the weekend, though out of 'season'. (It's a gripe of mine how few places...

Coming from Australia I wanted a quintessential English B&B experience! This proved perfect - from the room, breakfast, dinner and gorgeous setting! We were very late arriving - held up in London peak hour traffic - but we were still welcomed without a problem. The porridge at breakfast with Drambuie is outstanding!!! Wish we had been able to stay longer!

I was whisked out to Mothers Day lunch by my husband and two daughters who came back from university for the event. They had remembered this venue from their young days when they played hide and seek in the garden and thought it a perfect place to return to. They were right. Given the occasion it was very busy indeed...

We recently visited for lunch are were very disappointed. On arrival we were not greeted by anyone and seated ourselves based on the name on our reserved table. One of the waitresses just stood and watched us. Most of the staff appeared to be socially inept, hardly speaking at all. Any sort of warm welcome and jolly interaction with friendly...
