My husband and I arrived to the Gingerbread Hotel after a VERY long day of traveling. We were greeted by the owner and the chef with free drinks. We checked into our room and it was wonderful. The wine décor was so nice, and we especially loved the outdoor shower. We spent the evening at the restaurant enjoying Chef Eyal's...

We were guests of Chef Eyal for two nights. He was welcoming, took the kids with some friends of his to paddle board on the lake after dropping us in town for a beer. He warned us that dinner was going to be good, and he derived two nights in a row. Truly amazing meals, and it felt like the...

To be honest, I would give 3 1/2 points, but as this is not possible, I give 4. Our room was big, the double bed mediocre (narrow and when one person moves just a tiny little bit, the other one can feel it). But there was a small second bed, so we slept well. The place is quiet, and you...

We have enjoyed many great meals on our travels but none compare to Chef Eyal's cooking. It is outstanding. Our family of four (kids ages 12 and 14) stayed just two nights. We wish it could have been longer. Our rooms were clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the lake. Eyal took our kids paddle boarding with some...

First off, the food here is AMAZING! Food is worth driving from anywhere in the country just to eat. View of the lake is beautiful. Rooms are cozy and make you feel at home. Chef/owner is such a good host and all of the ladies there too. This place captures the "pura vida" lifestyle. We will definitely be going back!

Met the owner/chef while travelling. Eyal is an amazing fellow to talk to- he's got pura vida all figured out. We didn't stay or eat here (just stopped in to use the bathroom and have a couple of drinks on our way to Nuevo Arenal) but would definitely book a couple of nights if we come back to this region...

We were lucky enough to dine and spend the night at this amazing hotel. Just a 40 min drive from La Fortuna we decided to spurge and spend the evening in the wine room. Don't regret it at all. The wine room is one of a couple of themed rooms and its absolutely amazing. Large open room with a shower...

We almost missed this gem of a restaurant. It's in a beautiful part of lake Arenal. We started with the mushrooms in a creme sauce and it was out of this world. The BBQ ribs were the best I have ever eaten. Lots of nice local folks hanging out at the bar made it a special evening. It's a must...

The food was excellent !!!! The daily selection was perfecto ! Deserts were to die for . The chef cooking was 5/5. The main entrees were large enough to feed two people at a super reasonable price 😊Only problem encountered was we noticed that there was not enough road signs along the road to La Fortuna and from La Fortuna...
