My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this wonderful guesthouse by accident. It’s a magnificent house filled with beautiful antique furniture and fabulous art. The host Rodger couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. The breakfast he served was really delicious. Everything was perfect. Highly recommended!!
This hotel, or very special 'guest house', offers a different kind of experience. It is very definitely not a 5 star hotel but a very warm, interestingly furnished and decorated old house. There's much interesting art and furnishings. The host, Roger, is very welcoming and informative and takes great pride in his home. He appears to run the hotel single handed. There's a nice garden and a functional but simple pool in which to cool off. The hotel is on the edge of a very nice village with attractive streets and squares and several bars and restaurants. It's a comfortable walk in to the Centre from the hotel. You won't be disappointed if you opt for an evening meal. The food offered is of a very good standard and represents high quality dining. Wines are available at very reasonable prices. If your preference is for international corporate hotels you should give the Torre Marti a miss but if you enjoy visiting interesting private houses and appreciate good food and wine prepared and served with passion you are bound to like this very special place. The surrounding towns and villages are also worth a visit.…
This is a very small hotel in Sant Julia de Vilatorta, near Vic. It's an old residency house converted into a charming hotel run with passion by the owner family. The place is very quiet and full of old furniture and paintings. It has a nice library and elegant dining rooms. They have old and new rooms (7 or 8 in total). The modern ones are well-equipped and of good size for the category of the hotel. You can also have lunch there if you ask for. The food is notable. Very nice and balanced breakfast, also. Pleasant garden. Personal attention is of first-class. VERY recommendable.
You know you will return almost as soon as you arrive. The grand home is filled with fascinating original art and artifacts, period furnishings and humorous touches. Tasteful rooms feature comfortable beds, strong shower pressure and (my room) lovely porches to let in natural light and clean country air. Free Wi-fi and multi-language television were a surprise. Be sure to join for dinner. My 4-course dinner was sausages, pumpkin cream soup with scallop, partridge with mushrooms and sea bass. Each plate more delicious than the previous. All organic, fresh and scrumptious. Local bread and olive oil kept appearing.I knew I could not eat any more. But then came dessert and I could not resist a presentation of creme brulee ice cream and Catalan flan with chocolate cookie crust. We enjoyed our conversations with Roger and they allowed us to fully appreciate the history of the property and of his family's relationship to it. Turn off your cell phone and spend some time here with Roger and his family. You will be better for it! Until next time, thank you Roger.…
Stayed here on a business trip! Hotel is beautifully presented and the rooms are beautiful and presented in keeping with the building. Food is an amazing experience. You don't get a menu you get what the chef cooks for you that day. I was a bit apprehensive as I can be a little selective for food so I was little out my comfort zone however I had not have worried. Everything that was put in front of me I would not have ordered on a menu and it was one of the best meals have have ever had. Perfectly cooked scallops, home made bread and olive oil to die for and succulent cows cheek for main. A truly enjoyable experience and can't wait to return for a leisure trip! Bravo!!!
