We wanted a beautiful rural location and the chance to eat good Tuscan food. We got so much more than that. The level of hospitality from Alessandra, Guido and their staff (Magdelena and Sylvana) was outstanding: nothing was to much trouble and the cooking was just fantastic. It really felt like being part of a family. The other guests were mainly Italian and easy to get along with. The location is quite off the beaten path being quite high up a hill but worth it for the amazing views. The garden is full of flowers and butterflies. Everything is kept clean and tidy. It was beautiful but the best thing was staying with very genuine and kind people. Grazie tanto tutti.
As the rest of the reviews mention, this agriturismo is up a long, winding gravel roadway creeping up into the mountains overlooking the Arno valley. Once you make it up the road you are rewarded with breathtaking views and very friendly hosts. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the grounds are fun to explore, but the best part about staying here is that you are steps away from Alessandra's dinners. They are simply magnificent.
We were looking for a place near Grotta Guisi so we could visit the thermal again on our way back North. We weren't sure what to think when we started down the road as it's a ways down. However the ride was pretty amazing as we wound through olive groves owned by the Agriturismo. Guido and Alessandra are spectacular proprietors and will go out of their way to do most anything for you. Be sure to take your meals there as Alessandra is an amazing cook and you will be treated to lots of meals passed down through generations in her family. Also, there isn't a bad room in the place as she has decorated and painted all of the rooms in various color themes. Take several walks through the olives and around the property as its all very unique. Visit the chickens and ducks on your walks and have an omelette for breakfast which will be made with eggs collected the night before. All around the property are plantings of award winning roses, flowers and an assortment of herbs. Vegetable gardens are sprinkled throughout the olives as well.…
We were here between Christmas and New year. The decorations were lovely and homey. After a day of sight seeing on a cold rainy day, the wood fire was lovely to sit by with a cup of tea. Room was large and we had a bit of a view over the valley. 3 course dinner was available nightly and delicious but so much food! Don't have lunch if you want to make it through dinner. Love the dogs and cats. Made me miss mine less. Definitely recommend!
Amazing guest house high in the hills overlooking the Arno flood plain. The couple who own and run this do this for the love of it, their home and Tuscany. This is agriturismo at its best. An evening meal is available every evening. We ate there every night as Alassandra's cooking was excellent. There was no choice but the menu varied from local dishes to steak Fiorentina . We would definitely stay there again.
Stunning view. The staff is very very friendly. Service is perfect. The family cooks for their guests in the evening. Really great italian cooking. Nice refreshing pool. Perfect price-quality. I think they can ask more for a room!!!
We stayed here for 4 nights. Beautiful place with with outstanding hosts. Alessandra and Guido made our stay somewhat special, we felt like at home. Alessandra makes breakfasts and she also cooks dinners. Dinners usually start around 8 in the evening, and often there are other guests who come just for Alessandra's retreats. During our stay we hadn't have same dish twice. Everything from Florentine steak and rabbit to ravioli with sage and fish was just perfect- very homey and extremely tasty. Alessandra and Guido being very busy always found time to stop by and talk. Dinners there are extra, but don't skip it. Also all people who help them serve dinners (Luigi and Magdalene)-are very cheerful and friendly. Also the view, pool and veranda-type public area are well designed and maintained. You can find a lot of things coming right from their garden to you table - from herbs and salads to tomatoes and eggs. Don't get confused about location; even when gps cannot find it- use google map or coordinates for gps. As a ending point use intersections SP28 (strada provinciale 28) and Via Casa di Monte). You will find the Campofiorito sign, and from there the narrow gravel roads runs through olive groves to the house. Location is perfect to have one-day tours to Florence, Lucca, Pisa or San Miniato. For first three points use freeway A11. They all are traffic free, so park just outside city historic centre. In Florence use underground parking Parterre (about 10 euros/day, use cash), in Lucca - parking Carducci, 5 euros/day, machine takes coins only). San Miniato is known for truffles, and you can book truffle hunt there with cooking experience after (we had a great experience there with tartufaio Massimo and his sister Letizia). Town is very small with a lot of free parking (white lines - free, blue - pay in machine)…
The food, the wine, the views, the birds, the pool, the olive trees... and of course Alessandra, Guido and their family/friends... all just fabulous. We only stayed for 2 nights as we were on our way home and instead of doing tours/trips we just hung around reading books, dipping into the pool eating Alessandra's delicious cooking, napping, etc. We did one little trip, walking down the hill between olive trees to the golf club (and back up of course). Nice 1-hour walk (there and back) incl ice-cream time at the golf club. The room we had was spacious and clean (we didn't spend much them there) and the wifi worked well Yes, the narrow steep road up to their place is slightly intimidating, especially if another car comes from the opposite way, but definitely worth it. We're going back some day!…
Alessandra and Guido are perfect hosts who make you feel welcome immediately. The view from the terrace and all the little hiding spots is breathtaking. Everything was perfect. Alessandra was cooking excellent food - even accomodating to our vegetarian diet - at very reasonable prices. This place is highly recommended. Don't look any further.
Let me start by saying I have adopted Alessandra and Guido as cousins. Alessandra can cook for me any time. My wife and I find the close contact with the innkeeper and the small, quaint but nice types of boutique or B&B hotels to be our best bets. Our 4 night stay at Agriturismo Campofiorito did not disappoint. It was a beautiful house in a beautiful location with a clean, actractive, modern bedroom and bath and a very nice set of public areas. Now we had a bit of trouble with Google maps getting there. We probably got a turn wrong and traveled some interesting roads. AC is in the hills above Monsummano Terme to the east. It is set in an olive orchard which is about 1km off the state route. I say that loosely because the state route is about a one lane, well maintained asphalt road. That last km though is on a dirt road which, if not expected, could cause one some concern. However, IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH THE TRAVEL back in time to the future. The road winds through the olives and suddenly opens to a very modern home. We drove it in the rain, after the rain and at night and had no problems. It was an adventure where I wish I could have read this. I STILL WOULD HAVE GONE but I would have a bit more expectation about what to look for. Now, what do you get when you arrive besides the nice room and public areas. The view is incredible. The service is friendly and excellent. The cooking matched anything else we had for both breakfast and dinner. And, the homemade preserves were awesome. It was also a great value. One final note. I particularly liked the artsy nature of the owners. Alessandra painted a number of scenes throughout the home. They had a grape vine that had been turned into a chandelier. I loved the personal touches and thinking about the grape arbor project. You cannot go wrong with a stay here.…
