We were travelling to visit a friend in Grotta Ferrata, but it was too far in one day from our last destination in Switzerland, so we decided on an in between stop. Firstly, it looked very nice and not expensive. On arrival, we had a very warm welcome, and felt at home right away. I have to say the road to it, is awful, and at one point I did say that I didn't want to go on!!!! But on arrival everything changed. Our room, just a standard room, was amazing, large, comfortable and very clean. The bed was perfect, so comfortable, so I had the best nights sleep since starting our journey from Belgium, travelling through Europe. The menu looked interesting to say the least, almost an adventure, and again reasonably priced. It was excellent. The service, the food, everything perfect. The waiter kindly explained the dishes, couldn't have wished for anything more.....Just a better road to it!!! The swimming pool was a bit too cold for me, but my husband went in for a dip, while I enjoyed the hot tub. What a lovely experience this place was. I would come again at any time, and recommend it to everyone. Maybe one thing I missed in the room was a long mirror, but that is such a trivial thing, that it doesn't count for anything. Wonderful experience.…
I had a reservation for a family room for one night. When we came with children it appeared that a family room is not available. No explanation from the staff. Staff speaks not much in English. We were offered very small standard room with a view on a dug up garden with no trees and grass. It’s not a place you want to spend even a night. The hotel is still being rebuilt and under construction (men at work) - you are not informed about it on booking.com or their website. Everything looks nice at the pictures in Internet. Reality is so much different. Tiny pool with lots of smoking people in it. The road to the hotel is a real country road but in industrial area - holes and stones. It’s the first time we changed the place and search for another one because of the poor conditions we were offered. I don’t recommend this place at all.…
in the countrysite of Toscane you will finf this wonderfull quiet place. Staff is very friendly and rooms are comfortable. The restaurant offers very good food and great local wines. It is not easy to find, but when you have arrived you feel welcome. A place to come back again.
Although it’s been going for over a decade, the owners are now building an extension to boost the current total of six rooms. The location, in remote wooded hills up a kilometer long white dirt road, is secluded but convenient for the motorway, nearby Mugello race track and huge designer outlet village. We didn’t try the food except breakfast, which was good, and the rooms were simple but clean, except for a faint smell upon arrival. Prices were fair. It doesn’t feel like the place for a romantic weekend, although there’s a pool (currently overlooked by the builders), but it definitely has potential. This isn’t the cypress-tree postcard Tuscany of popular imagination, being more rugged and wild, but Il Castelluccio works well as a short stay base.
Extremely difficult to find, after finding the way to the hotel you will have to make 1600m of track, it is better to have a 4x4. Some horseflies will welcome you. I canceled the reservation, but the management did not accept, not recommendable ... never set foot there.
