Kristof brings his experience of running a large B&B in France to Casa Mapache and it shows. This is a well maintained and clean B&B in a beautiful, tropical setting with a variety of fruit trees. Kristof and his son Valentin are super hosts that excel in hospitality. Rooms were very clean, AC worked great, and the small fridge and coffee maker in the room were convenient. The pool is well maintained and clean. This is a great location for exploring the area around Tamarindo.

Our apartment in Jaco had some problems (water damage), so we decided to visit another area of Costa Rica : Guanacaste. We were lucky enough to have found Casa Mapache as our residence, only for three days, but those were the best three days of our vacation in Costa Rica. This is the place to go if you want a secure place, quiet, comfortable, a good pool and an excellent breakfast. You will also find the perfect hosts, attentive to your needs and ready to help you with everything. And the place is quite affordable. Of course, being over 60 of age, these are the qualities we appreciate most. If you prefer the nightly life, I suppose you will choose some other location. It depends what you are looking for. However, at Casa Mapache, you are still close enough to many beaches to enjoy what Costa Rica has to offer.…

The room was extremely clean and large. The new owners were friendly and made us feel at home. There were several families of howler monkeys inhabiting the overhead trees. They were delightful to watch as we ate delicious breakfasts created by the owners. The grounds were immaculate. We would recommend this to anyone looking to relax and enjoy the western coast of Costa Rica

This place is a real gem- we stayed as a family for 2 weeks and felt very relaxed & welcomed. Hostess Stephanie and her family were so lovely and the breakfast delicious. It's like a little oasis and the perfect place to relax after a day in busy Tamarindo , yet just a short drive away. Would def recommend this for families aswell as for couples.

We were very lucky to find this gem in the country. We stayed only one night but wished we had stayed much longer and used as a base for Tamarindo and other beaches. Stephanie is lovely , helpful and runs a very good small hotel as well as serving up an excellent breakfast. Accommodation is in chalets in beautiful grounds with a lovely big pool.

If you don’t mind sleeping with very large spiders and many other insects IN your room then this is the place to go. We stayed in our room all of 2 hours and had to kill several large spiders. Very gross!

First let me start by saying do not listen to the couple of negative reviews this amazing property has, i almost made that mistake. Glad I experienced the wonderful place of casa mapache. I was traveling with my 2 year old and my boyfriend and we had an amazing experience. Everything was so clean and the breakfast was amazing! Expect to see some dirt on the roads and bugs it is Costa Rica after all!! When we go back to Costa Rica we will make sure to come back to Casa Mapache!! Even the florist was so nice and sweet!!

I now have stayed at Casa Mapache twice, once three years ago with my family, and this month with my partner. Each time, I have been extremely satisfied with the service I was offered and the room I stayed in. The rooms are modern, very clean, spacious and have AC. The garden and the pool are magnificent, and are not crowded with people like it’s sometimes the case in big hotels. The breakfast is delicious and home made. Even the juices and jams are made by the host. The hosts were very nice and helpful, and gave us good recommendations as to where to eat or which beaches to go to. Casa Mapache is a little outside Tamarindo’s center, which allows to stay out of the noise and be in a calm place. This could be inconvenient for those who do not have a car, but taxis aren’t expensive and buses are available as well. I would stay there a third time if I was going back to Tamarindo again! Highly recommend staying there, especially for families and couples.…

Arriving in Costa Rica for the first time we stayed at Casa Mapache for two nights with no clue what we were doing past that for accommodation. We liked the place so much that we booked it for 4 more nights. It's a quiet, clean little oasis located just outside of Tamarindo and perfect for all travelers whether you're a couple or just a pair of friends. Breakfast is made every day and consists on homemade jam, freshly squeezed juice, bread made daily, all the fruit you can eat, and your choice of eggs. The owner, who puts so much love into her home is super friendly and was so eager to help us with any and all of our needs. Honestly we can't wait to come back.
