I took my Norwegian family here for traditional afternoon tea. After they had landed in Heathrow I found out one of them was not only gluten intolerant but also dairy! So with 2.5 hrs to the visit I called up and spoke to them. Not only did they manage to make gluten free sandwiches but they went out of there...

Thank you Stuart. It was a privilege to be the first stop on your family's visit over from Norway! Afternoon tea is a bit difficult when you are gluten and diary intolerant so I am really pleased that we managed to still serve something to make your guest feel special and for her to experience a traditional English Afternoon tea....

Apologies for this Nichola. As long as our breakfast chef or one of the team are on the premises we are happy to get you some breakfast, even if it is a sandwich to take away with you. Not sure when you stayed, so not sure who you spoke to, but I will ensure all the team are aware in...

We stayed on a secret escape deal for two days. Upon being shown to our superior room - we were disappointed. It was situated at the front of the hotel which is on the main road and very noisy. The room was tired and need re decorating. We asked if we could be moved to another room which was smaller...

We booked a package deal stayed at the Highworth Hotel. It included a cream tea. The Bar, tea room and restaurant were all very clean and nicely decorated. Drinks and food reasonably priced. We had dinner in the restaurant. My wife had the Highworth burger which she found to be very tasty. I had the trio of sausages and mash....

This was our 5th return visit to the Highworth and not disappointed. We stayed in Highclere which was lovely. Had two great nights sleep in a very comfy bed and breakfast each morning was spot on. We ate in the restaurant on the second night of our stay and compliments to the chef, the food was delicious. We met Linda...

Dear Jan, it was lovely to meet you and Mick. Really pleased you like the changes here, but I certainly can't take all the credit. The new owners are very passionate about what we have here and have invested a lot of time, money and energy into it AND I have a great team too! Looking forward to seeing you...

I stayed for one night at the Highworth recently as i was away on business. I booked late so had to take the last twin room. Unfortunately for me this was the top floor loft room with single beds. Now as a large chap, the single beds were too small and the ceiling was too low, (kept banging my head)....

We stopped here on the way down to Weymouth. It's a small hotel with good size rooms, friendly bar and a restaurant which we had breakfast the next morning and was very good. Great hospitality. We would definitely stay here again.

What a subtle transformation, the approach view is of a charming traditional coaching inn but the interior has been upgraded in many understated ways. It used to be tired and frumpy with a slightly pretentious atmosphere, a bit like the title of this piece! Now the wood-burner in the lobby welcomes your arrival. The dinner party room with its large...

This was a last minute decision to eat out with friends from Bristol on a busy Friday evening. The restaurant was busy and there were plenty of people in the bar area. We were seated quickly and offered menus immediately. The menu offered a range of options from Lamb Tagine, Fish & Chips to Bangers and Mash and this is...

This has become our regular Sunday Lunch spot since the new owners have taken over. The roast is a great price and always incredible (particularly the yorkshire puddings!). The staff are welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Couldn't ask for better and is a far better option than a Sunday wasted slaving away in the kitchen!
