My wife and I went to the Cambridge Belfry to use the Spa Facilities and have treatments for my birthday. On arrival we were welcomed and checked in with a health questionnaire. We were then directed to the changing facilities. The facilities were fairly busy for a Saturday evening, with what seemed to be a large group, but there was quite clearly enough space for everyone. On first impressions, the changing room floor was quiet dirty and wasn’t pleasant to stand on. This clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while, though there didn’t seem to be too many staff to do this. The facilities were great, the pool was a lovely temperature and I thoroughly enjoyed the steam room! The treatment I had was simply fantastic! The young lady was highly professional, comforting and was always attentive to my needs. It was a great deep tissue massage and was certainly needed! When leaving the location and having a lovely chat with the Personal Trainer. My wife and I were offered a 20% discount because it was my birthday. We were very grateful for this and couldn’t be happier. We are big fans and will be back again!

Really nice looking hotel, reception staff friendly and hAppy to help. Nice pool as well, no need to book a slot to attend. However, it was quite busy and we had to wait in order to enter as they were full. In this situation I would have preferred to book a slot and enter than just show up and wait. Anyway, the waiting time was less than 20 mins. The only thing that we didn’t really like was the fact that the radiator in the room stopped working around 5 am and when we woke up at 9am it was quite cold.

Dear Aneo9711, Thanks for the review. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay overall and the pool. As you state, we dont take bookings for the pool and when this was implemented to comply with COVID restrictions it was not popular with many guests. I am pleased you did not need to wait too long though as queuing is very rare as the pool has a fairly large capacity. I am sorry to hear that your radiator turned off in the early morning. Cambridge Belfry Cambourne Was it lies, Omission or just a lack of knowledge on their part? 816856688 This is how it happened, slightly compressed otherwise it would bore you to tears: Check-in was fine, no mention of any problems and seemed all was well. In Room- Question? when the word "King" is mentioned in a room description what would you firstly expect? My friends all said a "King" size bed. Well guess what, it was a double. I told my wife not to unpack, there must have been a mistake and went to check. I told the receptionist I had booked a King Room but the bed was a double to which she replied and I quote " King refers to the size of the room ALL THE BEDS IN THIS HOTEL ARE DOUBLES, THERE ARE NO KINGSIZE BEDS" I was not happy and went to discuss with my wife. We knew this was not true but accepted it. On returning to the room I realised the heating is not working but they had put a small heater in. We decided again we would not get upset. this was our first break in 18 months so we unpacked , put the heater on and went for a walk. Restaurant; On arrival we sat down and were offered a Bar Menu, I asked for the Restaurant Menu to be told this was the Restaurant Menu, it was one and the same. I have used Q Hotels for years and know there is always a separate menu for each but I thought, they are having kitchen problems and we just want a quiet meal so we accepted this as well. On returning to the room for the night it was quite warm so we opened the window for some fresh air, 10 minutes later there was a loud whining from outside so we had to close the window, the room then heated up and got stuffy so we opened the window again, the whining started so we had to close the window again, this lasted all night. On going to breakfast past the reception I told the receptionist I would like to speak to the manager when I finished. Breakfast was very good as was all the food, I cannot fault it, and I went to the reception to meet with Jade the manager. Discussion : Double bed; I told her I knew they did have king size beds to which she replied that the Suites did have them and she would try to upgrade us. Heating; This will be fixing it today as they were replacing the boilers. Noise from outside (their laundry)- No one has mentioned this before, we will look into it. Restaurant menu; This was a decision made due to staffing problems in the kitchen. Yes there normally would be two menus. Jade offered us a couple of massages on the house which we accepted, it was something, then went to see if she could get us an upgrade but no luck. She did find us another room, in her words it is the same as the one we had but on the other side of the hotel so no noise. We decide to take a look at it before making the decision. As soon as we entered the room my wife said we would take it, it wasn't till Jade left I realised it was a KING SIZE bed which is why my wife accepted it so quickly. Why the heading; "Was it lies, omission or just a lack of knowledge on their part?" 1. I was told there were no king sized beds in the hotel by the receptionist - I was told by the manager Jade it was only the suites that had them - NOT TRUE 2. I was told the heating would be fixed that day, it finally started working on Thursday morning as we were leaving, so another UNTRUE statement. 3. The bar menu and restaurant menus were the same, NOT TRUE, they simply did not put the restaurant menu on that night. On Monday night the restaurant menu was back on. The hotel therefore missed out on the food sales by omitting to tell the customer as we and possibly others went else where. We did have a 25 minute massage each but this did not make up for the fact that three members of staff simply lied to us. As a Q hotel member and frequent user for many years this has been the worst stay we have ever had. The heating might be fixed but what about the staff?

Advertised as an unforgettable experience, it was but for all the wrong reasons. I sent my complaint to the hotel almost 2 weeks ago and am still waiting for a response from management. No one to meet and greet, glass of fizz on arrival on an unmanned table leaving a free for all, other guests picking up glasses then putting them back (No thought for COVID) so didn’t take any. Waited over 30 mins for our table, then waited a further 20 mins before being acknowledge, after having to get someone’s attention. Glass on table had lipstick on it, so the table could not have been sanitised after the previous sitting. No atmosphere in the dining area, no decorations, poor service due to lack of staff. Staff crying due to the customer complaints. Tables not cleared. Dietary requirements not met. 3 slices of carrot and 3 small Brussels spouts, meals sent back, would have received a better meal at Weatherspoon’s. Having had to prepay and being Christmas Day, we had very little choice but to make the best of a bad experience. Any other day we would have walked out.

I am very sorry that you experienced a delay and did not enjoy your main course. We follow all required COVID precautions and glasses, cutlery and crockery are machine sanitized before use. Although sanitized, some lipstick can resist this process and should be picked up when placed on the table. Spent 4 nights as part of a new year package> Had a double room for single occupancy and it was fine for one person, but felt wardrobe space would be on the small side for a couple. There was a bottle of water in the fridge vut no drinking glasses Temperature was comfortable and shower fine
