Two night stay for three couples, combining a cycling and walking weekend. Very friendly hotel staff, great rooms and excellent food. The views off the terrace and beer garden are amazing. Spent two evenings in the bar, owner and locals very welcoming and friendly. Will be going back.

If I had the money I would snap this place up. It's in one of the best locations in the Peak. Beautiful building, garden, terrace views. Car park. Tourist hotspot. Lovely staff. So why was it empty on mothering Sunday? The food just doesn't match up. It's very basic pub food with an uninspiring menu. Frozen and fried. Could get...

Thank you for taking time to review the sir William Kate... Firstly let me ask a couple of questions What time were you at the sir William on Mother's Day? What did you eat ? The reason I ask these questions are that you state our menu is all fried or frozen. I feel I should point out the fact...

A one night stay that was so good. Good location and easy to find. Our big chocolate Labrador was made to feel very welcome and was allowed to be with us everywhere in the hotel. There are certain communal rooms where animals are prohibited which I totally agree with as not everyone wants to dine with animals but if you...

We stayed here for two nights because it was an ideal location for walks we wanted to do. We received a warm welcome from the owner Peter and we found all of the staff were accommodating. The double room we booked had a wonderful view. One small critique was the double bed blocked out the view when lying in bed....

Came to the pub for a birthday meal 2 and 1/2 weeks ago, started off by firstly having a bad starter, the pate wasn't obvious what it was which was slightly off putting, then the venison was a lump of meat which I wasn't sure was venison, a few members of the party had a chicken dish off the specials...

We came here with 3 large dogs and 2 humans. They very kindly gave us a large table so there was plenty of room for dogs. They all got plenty of attention amd treats from the owners. We were also given 2 water bowls for them which was great. The food was amazing, really good value for money. I would...

Stayed at Sir Williams for one night. We were not disappointed. Very friendly staff that couldn't do enough to help. Wonderful food at the restaurant with the added bonus of a Sunday night quiz. Great beer on tap. Comfortable and clean room. Fantastic breakfast with a wonderful view the following morning. Thank you Terry & Helen.

Visited here on a brief visit to the Peaks. Reasonably friendly welcome and shown quickly to room. Room itself was adequate, a bit tired (with a small, rather distant, TV). I slept OK, but I would imagine the mattress might be a little 'flat' for some. Effective, if rather noisy, shower. Breakfast was very good - tasty, hot and promptly...
