Hotel Selvazul advertises that they offer SCUBA diving as one of their activities. It’s prominently featured on their website. I messaged them Sunday to say I’d like to schedule a dive and day trip for this week. They said no reservations were needed for day activities. I reiterated that the dive was our top priority and we’d be driving a long way. I included a screenshot of their dive info from their website, and said we were PADI certified and wanted to book a single tank dive for two. I asked if dives took place everyday. They said yes and that no scheduling was necessary. We drove over two hours to be told by the dismissive person working the desk that they don’t currently have an instructor or working equipment. He shrugged when I showed him the text stream. He told us to go to another hotel (which, it turns out, doesn’t even claim to offer diving). When I asked if he’d call them for us, he refused and told us we’d just have to go talk to them. He offered nothing - not help looking for an alternative, not a cup of coffee while we regrouped, or a free day pass (about $4) - to make the situation better.…
This place has so much potential. Great View , Nice Rooms . Nice access to the Laguna. But what diminishes the overall experience is the lack of staff and customer service. Service was horrible. There is no attention to the customer whatsoever . Basically once your in you’ll be on your own , your own music, your own vibe . Also not too much to offer when it comes to a limited menu . I think the best part was that you have your privacy .
Very rude staff, dirty room, old carpets, disgusting bathroom, a ceiling fan was about to fall. Worst place to visit in Laguna de Apoyo. Caribbean room pictures, bats inside the room. It’s deadly dangerous for families with children, there’s a bridge without any protection at heights of approximately 5 meters.
First impressions sold us beyond expectations. We searched through MANY websites for a quiet stay away to REALLY relax. This place drew us in with how private everything looked and the setting appeared to be a destination downtime. The first night was amazingly quiet and peacefully serene. But, by the second day we came back for a day of enjoyment of going in our private little pool and hammock time of taking in nature sounds was turned into a group of 20 something year olds who wanted it to be a party hang out. They had rented the pool area for the day and had the system with bass cranked up shaking our little cottage windows. This wasn't a Friday nor a weekend, but on a Tuesday. Management basically told us that "every one has a different idea of relaxation" and that, "they had paid to be there". Meaning, their combined money brought in more value than our stay. Very disappointing. Absolutely gorgeous and natural property and we were looking forward to staying there for a couple of days. The front desk DID compensate the 2 day because we decided to leave early once we seen the outcome decision. Maybe any other day this wouldn't have happened, but if you are like us looking forward to peace and quiet be aware what you may be facing. …
Breakfast was amazing!!! All the staff were kind, really good customer service. Beside my partner I took my dog with me, the hotel is pet friendly, this is a plus! :) The room was pretty good, the view really nice. Everything was great. The artesanal pizza was delicious! :)
We arrived at Hotel Selva Azul in the heat of the day and luckily we had booked the Nali room which had it's own plunge pool! The lake was only a few metres away but jumping in the pool was an amazing way to cool off. The room had excellent AC as well. The room was also very spacious with a ceiling fan to help move the air. As mentioned the lake was only meters away and once out of the pool we were paddle boarding and kayaking in the lake. There was always a supply of cold beer on hand. Could also orfer rum and coke! We stUed 2 nights and ended up eating dinners there. Very tasty meals. Breakfast was included and they had the tastiest cinnamon pancakes! There is also a tiny market a few mi sites away for extra goodies. We bought a very tasty pineapple there. We met the owner and all of our needs were looked after by a great guy named Orlando. He spoke excellent English and organized a taxi to Granada for us. Highly recommend. …
If you’re looking for a beautiful location to relax in, this is the place. The hotel consists of private cabins that range in size and are located next to a crater lake. Being able to swim in “la laguna” every morning was wonderfully refreshing. A complementary, breakfast buffet is offered every morning with some of the best pancakes and coffee I’ve ever had. You can also purchase meals from their restaurant for lunch and dinner. I suggest their breaded shrimp! The staff is also very friendly and the employees working at the front desk speak both English and Spanish. A couple words of caution. This hotel is very close to nature so you may see different insects, spiders, and lizards at times. Also, because of the incline of the crater, there are a few steps to navigate.…
I want to write some positive things. 🙂The help was friendly. The rooms were built with themes, which is fun and cute. They need more upkeep and maintenance. There are steep and rough stairs to the beautiful Crater Lake. Things at the bar or on the menu may not be available every day because they run out of things, but the food was good. Pizza, tostones, and chicken strips were good, and the smoothies when they were available. If you are 20-something or like rustic places, you will probably like it. I love Crater Lake!
We stayed in the Africa room which was so beautiful. This was the first place we had stayed at on our trip and it was so perfect to go from normal life to paradise. The room is completely open up in the tree tops and overlooking the lake. The sun rises over the lake and through frangipanis and palm trees you have this beautiful reflection of the sun on the lake. The man and woman working here are so kind and flexible!
Everything about this amazing place is excellent from the views, to the room and especially the staff. We stayed in Bali - and if you’re 2 people it’s a must! We had a private pool and beautiful room. The value to for money was just unbelievable. The sunrise was by far the best I’ve ever seen. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay extra special, my partner booked this as a surprise and they had decorated it all with my favourite flowers and champagne when we arrived. It was definitely a more relaxing and peaceful resort, however the pool bar is open most of the day, and there are other bars along the beach. The food was excellent, although we usually eat later than 7pm which is last food orders here. Can not recommend this place enough and most important the Bali room! …
