We had a wonderful time staying at Tekarera Inn. Paul - the owner and an amazing guide - is beyond my vocabulary. What a wonderful human being who made the whole experience beyond what I ever could have hoped for. And the way Paul shares information and answers questions - it feels like a conversation between friends and not like...

We spent six days on the island and everyday was an experience. How fortunate we were to fall into the hands of Paul Pownall. He is the BEST guide on the island. If you go to Easter Island, please seek him out because it will be worth your while to find out the true history of the island. Our accommodations...

It is difficult not to overdo the superlatives when talking about our trip to Easter Island this month. We were late arranging flights and this meant that we could only spend two and a half days on the island but Paul went out of his way to ensure that we were able to see and do as much as possible...

This is not a 4 star hotel, but it is most certainly a 5 star experience. We spent 8 nights during November 2013 at Tekarera and wished we could have stayed 8 weeks. After traveling internationally for 13 years I can easily say there is no place else on the planet like Easter Island and Tekarera. The experience is more...

Was at Tekarera for Tapati last year, February 2012. Despite the busy time for Paul (and managing renovations to what will be absolutely gorgeous accommodations when totally complete), we were treated like royalty. We took advantage of two private tours with Paul, learned more about the culture, customs, and history than we ever could have imagined, and had the most...

Rapa Nui is like nowhere on earth. And the experience at Tekarera fit. Our family of five was there in the summer of 2012 and I've been meaning to post ever since. Paul is an incredibly knowledgeable and generous man. His dogs greet you like Mr Rourke and Tattoo. Tekarera is very comfortable and constantly in a state of improvement....

We stayed at Tekarera in Jan 2013. We missed our connection to Rapa Nui from Lima and arrived 1 1/2 days later than planned. Paul met us at the airport and adjusted our tours to accommodate our shortened stay on the island. He went out of his way to ensure we had a great experience (we booked 1 1/2 days...

Hotel - the hotel is located very close to town (right next to the museum), and is very clean and comfortable. The hotel is newly-renovated, and the showers have really awesome pressure and the beds are very comfortable. This is really important, coming back from a long day of hiking and exploring the island. Guide - Paul is the most...

Paul is a generous and fabulous host. He really made our stay on this fascinating island and his local knowledge dating back 40 years ago to when he helped on archaeological digs was invaluable. We booked two half day tours as we had a few days but this morphed into lifts into town and to see sunrise one day as...

We chose to stay at Tekarera due to glowing online reviews for the owner, Paul. We ended up booking the 3 bdrm house located by the main hotel since it wasn't that much more than booking 2 separate rooms at the hotel. Overall, the house was great. It was very clean, the bathrooms had plenty of hot water and great...

“The Kainga Nui cabin at Hotel Tekarera is an self contained three bedroom, two bathroom apartment with a kitchen, dining room, living room and wrap around deck. If your party needs more than one room I recommend comparing having the cabin instead.”
