I was looking for reasonable priced accomodations with a good location that were clean and well maintained. Based on the reviews on Tripadvisor, I chose Hotel Orongo in the middle of Hanga Roa, which is the perfect location. At $60 USD per night, these accomodations were on par, if not better in some respects to other so called superior hotels...

Easter Island seems mysterious and magical from afar, but when you land at the Hanga Roa Airport, the reality of arriving in one of the most isolated places on the planet hits you as much as the humidity. There is only one town, and with the exception of one high-end hotel on the outskirts of town, all the hotels and...

This hotel had a great location in the middle of the only town on the island. It is run by a man named Raul, who was a fantastic cook, when he decides to cook! One night there, he just did not feel like cooking. The room was ok, basic. Sheets and towels are old and worn and the bathroom had...

We have recently returned from a trip to Chile. We spent 5 days/ 4 nights on Easter Island. We stayed at Hotel Orongo for the entire time. The hotel is a short walk from the water and within walking distance of everything in town. There are beautiful Moai just a short walk away. Orginally I asked for a twin room...

Based on recommendations from colleagues that had stayed at Hotel Orongo we made our reservation months ago and looked forward to the stay. We heard and read much about the owner's eccentricities and simply hoped for the best. What we got in terms of an experience was more than we could have hoped for. The rooms are simple. Sheets and...

One word-DON'T! Outside of the grounds and dinning room this place is a dump. One person wrote there were some issues with the towels. I clean my car with better towels. They were rags. The bedding was also pathetic. What they call a continental breakfast consistend of sugar water for juice, a piece of fruit if you were lucky and...

I stayed at Hotel Orongo for two nights with a friend. Everything was as has been written by others. Perhaps the rooms, including the linens and towels, are a bit worn out, but spotless in any case. Note that there are also twin rooms available, even though the hotel web site only lists double rooms. However, the level of service...

Had a fablous dinner at the Orongo Hotel with Chef Rauol creating a wonderful feast of raperape ( baby lobsters) carpaccio, and island fresh fish fillets. His culinary artistry rivals that of the Iron Chefs. He could compete except he operates on his own time table---quality takes time.....well worth the wait.

Hotel Orongo is centrally located in Hangaroa making it easy to walk to all locations in town. The host, Raoul Teave provides a warm welcome and his staff are a delight to speak with. They share their life experiences aand changes that Rapanui has undergone. The art in the hotel's store is some of the best I saw in Rapanui....

I spent three nights at the Hotel Orongo on Easter Island last month. It is a quaint little hotel located in the middle of the island's only town, Hanga Roa. The Orongo has five rooms, each of which face a central courtyard with a nice garden. This is a family-run hotel and it certainly has a homey feel. I was...

“If you are there in high season, the rooms at the rear might be more quiet, as they have the AC. For me, with the screened window open, the room on the front was fine, and the fan was not even needed in March.”
