The Waiotemarama Falls Lodge was not what we expected. Lovely views and exterior appearance, but upon opening the front door we discovered a 1970/1980’s time capsule complete with CRT TV. (Note: There is a video on the website found after booking.) No shoes are permitted, but the carpet is noticeably worn. Rather than wood or ceramic tile in areas without...

This is a great place to spend some time. The property has a fantastic view down the valley. The owners could not be more welcoming: sharing their garden produce and even watering the lawn in the hope of attracting a kiwi. The property, which was the owner's home, is like a 1980s show home with some beautiful furniture and excellent...

We booked the Waiotermarama Falls Lodge quite by accident but what a wonderful surprise!! The view from the lodge is utterly amazing. The daytime view is quite breathtaking. At night the wrap around porch is perfect for star gazing and personally I have never seen so many stars in my life. My husband went out after dark and saw a...

We arrived and were welcomed by hostess Candace and her partner. Conducted to the most amazingly situated building overlooking a beautifully wooded valley. We were shown around and given advice on restaurants in the nearby ton of Opononi. We then relaxed and took in the views and watched both bird life and other fauna. That evening we dined in the...

Had booked the Lodge to celebrate my birthday. The website of the Lodge had a video which gives a complete picture of the property but let me tell you, the video does not do any justice to the actual beauty of the place. The Lodge has a lot of items thoughtfully placed like binoculars, a microscope, board games, tide information,...

We love being tourists in our own country and we have been wanting to visit Hokianga for quite some time. The lodge is a great place to base yourself, nestled in the hill it offers complete privacy. Candy and Rawiri are wonderful hosts, full of information and itineraries of where to go and what to see. The house is spotlessly...

We just returned from a fantastic NZ vacation. My husband, 4 children, and I stayed at the lodge for 5 nights. It was very clean, nice sheets, and thoughtfully supplied in the kitchen with fresh milk, fruit, bread, jam, etc. Candy and Rawiri were so nice and gave us many tips of where to go and when. We saw the...

We celebrated joint birthdays at this delightful, magical, beautiful lodge, which is tucked away and truly relaxing and private. The lovely hosts, Candy and Rawiri, were the perfect balance of being helpful and informative (great fishing spot recommendation, Rawiri, thank you!), yet giving us plenty of privacy. A most comfortable bed, great fireplace, potential kiwi- spotting opportunities and magic all...

We absolutely loved it here - as soon as our host, Candy, showed us round we were stunned at the beautiful views and gorgeous space of the lodge. It is quite easily one of the best places we have ever stayed. We only wish we had longer there, but it only formed 2 nights of our Northland trip in New...
