We've been here for both lunch and dinner recently and stayed overnight here in the past. I understand that the management has changed since we stayed but that's of no real consequence as its still a good place to eat, and I would assume, stay too, as there are plenty of good walks locally and other things to do. The...

I'm sad to be writing this review as I've been to the Tormaukin many times over the past 20 years with many happy memories of very good food and service. However the past two times I have been there have been extremely disappointing. A fiftieth birthday celebration in December 16 was marred by incredibly slow service and staff that stayed...

We arrived after the Scot v Wal match. a little earlier than arranged but were welcomed to our table for 12 waiting for us. We did have to ask for menus but was told that they hadn't been brought over because we were early but no matter they duly arrived. All of the meals were superb, well cooked, presented and...

This was our second stay at the Tormaukin Inn. Rob the manager and the rest of the staff were very friendly and welcoming from the minute we arrived. The rooms are quirky and quaint. We loved the exposed stone wall in our room at the front of the hotel (room 6). It was cosy, clean and very spacious. We had...

Booked for Sunday lunch and I have to say that I couldn't fault it. The Roast Beef dinner was superb and the desserts are fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the childrens ' menu....the fish goujons are served as 4 separate pieces of battered fish, and the macaroni cheese was freshly made and delicious! Would definitely come...

We arrived between Christmas and New Year fedup with cooking and looking to get out the house. Only one other table was occupied in the restaurant which should have been a warning bell as having eaten here for over 20 years the place used to be crammed full. We were shown to a cramped table for 4 despite all the...

Had been out walking with family (all adults) are were looking for some food and refreshments. Have been in this restaurant/Inn several times and it's been fine. Food and service were good. Pleasant surroundings. However, this time, despite snacks etc being advertised as being available in the afternoon we were told that food was not served until 5pm. We left...

We have visited the hotel on many occasions. Our last visit was in December 2016 and for the first time we were very disappointed. The staff were friendly but all seemed to be nervous and lacked training. The food was bad. Potatoes were served in a soup bowl and microwaved. The chicken was ok but nothing like it used to...

I have been many times to the Tormaukin over the years and had only good memories of its coziness, service and the quality of its cuisine. It was a place well worth making the drive to and was right up there as a place to go to for that extra special culinary outing. Today that changed. Firstly the fire that...

Our group consisting of six couples stayed Saturday Dec 17 for our Christmas Night Out. Meal was excellent and we had our own private room with excellent service. DB&B rate was £90 per couple and £50 was allocated to food so anything over that cost was additional. Breakfast was also very good and there was an excellent variety on offer...
