We think of this lovely place as our local - it's 5 mins in the car. Had my birthday lunch party here a few years ago, often take our visitors for lunch, and always go when I am cooked out and need a day off from cooking! The food is consistently good, there is a friendly welcome, and we always...

Went on the hunt for a pub to get a bit of food and watch the rugby and wow what a find! Reassuringly busy mix of passing trade and locals made for a great atmosphere, we chanced to ask if they had space for food and the kind staff although fully booked came to find us when they found out...

Met a group of friends here for some food. It's a lovely, warm and welcoming pub but not from the bar woman. She was very rude to me and my group of friends, sarcastic and seemed she didn't like serving a young group of attractive girls. She didn't seem to have a problem serving the men!! Won't be coming here...

It is so rare to find a proper English pub. By that I don't mean spit and saw dust, run down beer smelly pub! But a pub that cares so obviously about providing great food to its regulars and all that visit. When we arrived the 'larger than life' landlord welcomed us with a beaming smile. It was busy, but...

A busy pub is always the sign of a good place especially on a cold day in early New Year. We had booked the meeting room which was light and airy with plenty of space for twenty of us. When the lunch came it was superb; fine dining presentation with generous portion size and great flavours. Try the cod lion...

Stayed here for one evening as I was attending a Christmas party at Grittleton House, came alone and was made to feel extremely welcome. I sat in the bar prior to the party and had a few drinks and chatted with the owner and regulars and had a lovely evening. Lovely room, really comfy bed, I had a great sleep,...

Visited with friends for dinner, have not been for many years. Menu on board, fairly good selection, we all decided to have the steak which was a mistake. Meat was almost tasteless and bland, chips, mushrooms and salad good, pity they couldn't have cooked their own onion rings, the were just a piece of batter, had to search for the...

A really lovely b and b slightly off the beaten track but well worth it. Delightful owners. The room we had at the top was a huge Family room and well appointed with the best pillows ever ! Breakfast was excellent and we have nothing but praise. We were not able to eat in the evening but the menu looked...
